Eastonmade Wood Splitters

What other firewood products do you sell other than for home heat?
Pizza wood/Restaurant wood is a huge market with lots of profit to be made. These are consistent repeat customers that require a perfect product every time and on time. This 22-28 has a box wedge that has 2x2 spacing to make delivering that product easy. It has a smaller 24 ton cylinder instead of the standard 37 ton that the 22-28 normally comes with. This lowers the cycle time from the standard 6.5 seconds to just above 4 seconds.
Thanks for all the support folks. Really appreciate all the feedback.

Market for what that pile of kindling, package it and sell for $3.00 a bundle! A lot of people don’t understand there is no scrap when it comes to firewood! It doesn’t matter how you handle the wood, no scrap! Saw chips from chainsaw= sell to pelletizer=$ Noodles from making large round manageable = $ ready to burn tinder just need packaging Bark casting that fall off logs, make nice hot coal beds, or could be ground up and used as mulch sell to landscaping supply =$ Then all different grades of firewood, If you look at every aspect of the wood process, you can find some way to market all parts of the tree, that enters the wood lots! So now we come to a new challenge for Andrew and the rest of his crew... to make a pellet processing machine for those of us with rather large sawdust piles!

I split mesquite here in Texas as I’m I splitting small kindling / chunks / “scrap” pieces get thrown in a 55 gallon dumpster that has a heavy duty yard waste bag lining it when the bags full it was 50 ish pounds and it gets sold for cooking wood . 20$ a bag all day long and it became a great way to spread the word of my side business of cutting firewood .

@@irajackson6423 that’s the way to do it!, aside from splitting all of your in to kindling, noodle some so they have a nice fire starter as well, and pack a bag of about 10 pounds, to sell for 7 dollars a bag! Seasoned . This will generally light with just one match

@Chester Dougherty while most people don’t look to purchase “noodles” it makes great tinder, to start the fires, and most people are stuck on paper or chemicals, that is why these are a hard sell! But if they were educated in fire starting then they would see the value!

I second your comment about the "scrap". I know of at least one place that sells as much as he has as "back yard fire in a bag". He's near a city so good market. A lot of folks don't want a long burning fire in their firepit so no big splits. He packages it in larger mesh bags, up to the poly bags like I've seen you guys fill. I think he's getting $75 for the large bags (1/3ish cord?), so certainly not scrap!

One of the things I've noticed running the box wedge; When you see a noticeable amount of smalls and fines coming off the splitter, it's probably because the wood you're splitting would be something most people would be happy to leave on the side of the road to rot. At that point, getting useable/saleable product off the machine is just like printing money!

Have you every explored making the top of the wedge wider and adding a couple more wings on the Pizza Wedge making it more of a 9-Way Box Wedge? Great video Andrew. So, is that a different type of box wedge or the standard one? I like the idea of going fast, but we all get ugly wood from time to time so it would be nice to have this wedge on the powerful 22-28 unit. But then that pile at the end was beautiful. I would just worry about not being able to split nasty wood. On a side note, a face cord near me goes for $50. Its like you said, location, location, location.

This wedge is tighter than our standard box wedge. There would be no issue running it with the bigger cylinder. The biggest thing to note is that as the box wedge gets smaller the quality of wood going into it needs to be better.

Anyone who complains about making waist in the firewood business shouldn't be in the firewood business. The nature of a boxwedg and higher multi split wedges of course is going to produce more scraps as well as different species of wood. If all you are going to do is complain about making scraps instead of a top quality product is a very impressive time then just go crabbing and stay there.

Well done on the machine guys. Great cycle time, love the equipment you're building...too bad you had to choose Denver Bronco's colors though. That could be overlooked with the performance of the equipment. Keep up the good work.

@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters Yeah it's hard not to. Legends they are. That's fine Hockey is much better although I've been waffling back and forth between the Penguins and the Blackhawks myself so the colors are just fine until I get my act together and make a decision. Ha Ha. :) Oh by the way...I saw your splitters on Buckin' Billy Ray's channel. That splitter he was using is a Stone Cold Beast of a machine.

Pizza wood, Smoker wood, same same for me. Those smalls or fines can be packaged as kindling if you're selling camp wood. Thoughts??

I didn't see any waste I saw money. Put some of the smaller pieces in bundled wood and market it as starter sticks like you would use for a campfire . Why yes my bundled wood is better because we include starter sticks to make it more convenient for a more enjoyable experience . Well folks that idea was a freebee is there any thing else I can help you with?
