@keithmoore3433 a cord is 128 cubic feet neatly stacked. It’s most commonly a 4’x8’x4’ stack. A “face cord” is 1/3 of that. Here is a video I made to answer some of those questions kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZruFrMqqmdCngaM.htmlsi=simlFeTbygH3h7vC

What I’ve learned with my 12-22 and box wedge, if you want nice wood and a fun experience, give it nice wood. If I have anything knotty or twisted even if it’s 16” diameter it’s not worth fighting it thru the wedge. Always Looks like you have a lot of nice rounds for it. Good advice too on putting them thru with straight cuts! Stay safe and have a good day!

That box wedge is perfect for the bundle grade logs that Chas has been hooking you up with. The best thing that you’ve learned in your firewood journey is that there is such a thing as “more work than worth logs”. I was very happy to see on your last video that you were scrapping several nasty/knarly/knotty logs.

That box wedge is amazing! Personally I like the smaller splits over a few bigger splits. It will season in half the time and throwing two small pieces into a fire will burn just as long as if they were one big piece. Cutting dry time in half is key!

BW makes some nice wood but it's a tad time consuming, especially if you have a few guys helping. Running the 22-28 we pretty much use 12 way 99.9% of the time. The box comes in handy for sure but for production the one and done is hard to beat.

Love the video. I ordered a 22-28 and should be here to Delaware around February. A few questions people have when you are using the box wedge, why do you turn your wood while splitting bigger rounds? If you could explain that for others it may be helpful to them.
@FirewoodattheFurnace
@FirewoodattheFurnace 8 ай бұрын
Absolutely I will do that. The reason I do it is if the rounds are wider than the wedge, you’ll get pieces that need resplit off the ends when you get to the middle of the round. If you take a couple pushes off the bottom and narrow it up, you can then turn in 90 degrees and push the rest through without needing to resplit anything

Good video. That is the machine I want to get. Seems to handle large logs with ease and the box wedge just makes for a lot less jockeying big halves and quarters arounbd after the first split. Did you ever feel the need for the next size up machine 22-28?

Yes, I have tried a little bit of everything through it. The box wedge likes good wood. You get out of it what you put into it. Ugly wood makes ugly splits. The machine will push it but you get alot of scrap. For the gnarly stuff, I normally switch the box wedge out for the 4 way.

LOVE your video, got my 22-28 over a year ago, love it. I got dual lifts, 36" extended tray, but obviously cant use the dual lifts with box wedge. I run my dual lifts when I use my tall 4 way. I REALLY love your part on uneven cuts. A lot (most) of my cuts are uneven, and you are 100% correct, uneven splits will drive the wood down into the table, of which you dont wanna do. I've been doing it wrong all along! Thanks for this tip! Uneven splits need to be run thru with longest end at bottom, THANKS again for this tip. I also notice you still have the blue tag from Eastonmade still on your splitter- so do I :). kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jLd2h7x9uJ7OkaM.html

I split SO much in the past 3 days. I still LOVE this video, learned so much about uneven wood, and best way to split it on the boxwedge. I also loved your gage on where to align height of wood. I also use spray on grease, as there is no way i can use the grease fitting on my 22/28. I cant get my hand and grease gun under the ram to grease it. If I had to change anything on my splitter, here's some things I would change. 1) never would have gotten the dual lift. The wheels are to far back, and creates a HUGE amount of tongue weight, and I'm mainly using boxwedge, so dual lift is useless in this configuration. My error when purchasing. 2) My metal pan Grate, I ordered my Eastonmade splitter with a log 36" long pan, as I have no conveyor. The longer pan works great. Now, that being said, yes, the boxwedge creates an unheard of amount waste, as any boxwedge will do, but I still love it, and use it 95% of time when splitting. Using this boxwedge creates all my waste mixing in with my firewood, as I let the splitter keep pushing all the split wood along the pan, and actually will push the stacked pile of firewood. I had a long stroke 36" Timberwolf before the Easton made. The one thing I LOVED about the Timberwolf is that it had tubular bars as a grate, instead of a flat pan. This allowed almost all the waste to fall thru the tubular grate, and not mix in with the split firewood. I would keep the underneath of the grates cleared out. I'm looking into a way to cut slots, or make a new grate with slots so that the boxwedge waste can fall thru. I absolutely LOVE your channel, keep the vids coming! Tube grates- waste falls thru. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l6-JgKhjnJy9nHk.html @@FirewoodattheFurnace

My 22-28 will not split with box wedge in the lowest positiion. IF I HAD KNOWN THAT I WOULD HAVE ORDERED PIZZA WEDGE. It literally jams and get severely stuCk due to bottom of wedge seperating itself from the hydraulic arm connection where it is supose to stay in that groove to lift the wedge. it will not work and stay connected and jams everytime. unless i raise the wedge to assure the wedge is in the that hydraulic cut out groove ... WHICH MEANS I AM VERY UNSATISFIED THAT I CAN NOT GET THE SMALLEST PIECES AS ADVERTISED FOR THE 7 WAY BOX WEDGE. because in order to get the smallest pieces , you have to lower the wedge all the way down. so most of my splits are way bigger and NOT HOW I WANT THEM TO BE..... AND I WAS DELIVERED A POWDERED WITH SALTY DUST SPLITTER THAT HAS CORRODED THE ENTIRE MACHINE AND I CONTACTED THE DRIVER AND HE HAS DONE NOTHING TO HELP ME FROM BEING CORRODED. NOT ONE PHONE CALL FROM EASTONMADE TO EXCHANGE MY SALT CORROSION 22-28 DUE TO NOT COVERING AND PROTECTING THE 22-28 DURING DELIVERY FROMN SALT DUSTY POWDER. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED DURING WINTER ENVIRONMENT WHEN SHIPPED ... MY MACHINE HAS PEELING PAINT ON THE ENTIRE MACHINE , AND LOOKS LIKE ITS 20 YEARS OLD FROM THE TIME I RECEIVED IT. IT WAS POWDERED WHITE WITH SALT DUST AND AM VERY UNSATISFIED , ESPECIALLY FOR SPENDING OVER 15 GRAND .
