2011 Ford Focus clutch return spring replacement. This covers many model years so check if the part number applies to your car first.
I am a trained mechanic but can not supervise you while you work, therefore, this video is for entertainment only and you should always have someone qualified do the work to your vehicle.

*Ford does Not stock or make this part anymore. I just use my foot and lift the clutch pedal to get the cruise control functioning properly.*

First off, thank you for sharing this. The only reason I was able to even correctly identify this part is because of this video. Ford’s website only identifies the assembly and not the spring itself. There’s also different variations of the part number. Although the website provided in the description no longer provides this part, Amazon has the part under : YS4Z-7534-AA. This part is extremely difficult to access as of late. Not sure if it’s because manuals are disappearing or supply shortages. This was very helpful for both my mechanic and myself. I did want to ask: is this something experienced people can do within 5 minutes? Personally, as a novice, to get the part off a car from the junk yard took 2 days alone. I found that the view of the spring is completely obscured by sensor attachments a part that attaches goes to the clutch master cylinder. Mirror helped but I had to remove the blind spots completely to access the spring. I also had to loosen the brake pedal to gain additional clearance. I’ve been wrestling putting on the new spring in the driveway for 2 hours now. Will keep it going but just want to know if there is something I may have missed in this video. Thank you!

Hello! although I am an experienced mechanic I have to say I have never done this particular job before this and (with filming) it was done in under 15 minutes. it may have helped that I was able to easily find the part at the time and have a keen eye for places to sneak a screwdriver. Regardless, I'm glad I was able to help....and yes this is something an experienced person can do in 5 minutes (with a power ratchet of course).

I will also add, that this is the stuff that will cost you $200 or more at the dealership. I used to work there and couldn't take it anymore, so many people getting ripped off.

You're welcome! Most cars have access panels and such. I had an 03 and it had it if I remember correctly.

Finally got it, definitely a tight squeeze, you have to push an play for that damn hole, took me about 30 minutes or so, also i took the metal plate all the way off, it was just in the way, again thanks for the video

Thanks buds! I need to replace mine as well... One quick question: Do you know whether I need to remove the center bolt which holds the clutch master cylinder to the firewall, in order to replace it (the master cylinder). I was able to undo all the other bolts except that center bolt which rusted out... Just trying to find a workaround. The two vids I've seen both removed the bolt... However, on one forum the steps suggested removing the center bolt OR removing the 'u' clip on the inside under dash... Any thoughts or know how? Thanks.

@@andrewc6602 I got through figuring it out! I also made a basic video just to show that I was able to remove Master Cylinder WITHOUT removing the center bolt on the firewall - I changed the clutch line out as it was cease in the pressure end of the master cylinder and had to cut it. As for the spring, I ended up increasing the angle of the hook-end (used a needle nose plier to carefully open the curve by about .5mm) - this created a little raised edge which made it a bit easier for me to get it into the hole between the clutch-break cluster and the firewall... took me about 15-20 mins to get it all done :-)... DIY'er Tropical North I have a 2005 Ford Fusion Manual , I get hesitation when I’m taking off in first , I have to accelerate a bit more then usual, could this be the spring or the clutch master cylinder ? When I first got the car the pedal would always get stuck and no rarely does , thank you

But how did you diagnose it being the spring? Probably a dumb question, but I’m having this problem know and the internet mechanics have listed so many possibilities, I don’t even know where to start, but this seems the easiest

I’m not able to shift my car into any gear. Would this keep the clutch from engaging?

When I pressed on the pedal it did not return. I simply stuck my head down there and saw it broken. Not shifting into any gear could be a few things such as a Slave cylinder or broken transmission internals. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Was yours already broke off or did u just take it off without showing us? I had a hard time getting the bottom hook off I had to loosen the pedal and clutch master cylinder assembly to get it off. Not as hard as people make it out to be but not that easy either. At least for me anyway ha. Good video tho👍
