If this farm doesnt work change ur world simulation chunks to 4. Idk why but it just fixed the farm. Hope this helps😊

I am playing java edition 1.19.2 and the minimum simulation chunk we can go is 5. On 5 the farm is not working.

It is because on more than 4 chunks you can render the ocean floor below you causing the drown to spawn down there not in your farm.

I made this with the leaves and it works. Suggestion: put a trident killer at the bottom so you can go truly afk. No looting but I’m across town and I’m still getting shells tridents copper and exp. Item sorter doesn’t hurt anything either

Tips if this farm doesn’t work for you: 1. Make sure your simulation distance is 4 2. Put the leaves even though they’re not necessary 3. Make sure there’s no other farms effecting it

I would just like to mention if you are doing this in survival it will take around 32 stacks of leaves to completely cover the top cuz 16 stacks is only enough for the outer rim

I recommend lowering your render distance to as low as you can since there will be less ocean shown to be able to spawn drowned.

This definitely works, it's just not as fast as I anticipated. It took me about 1hr to build on a screen. Then I literally sat there a whole night and got one trident. Note that I have Looting III. I'll go get some leaves.

Something you may be able to do to make the farm automatic (im really not sure about this) is to make a trident killer area. Thers a tutorial somewhere else but it just makes the farm auto

You could definitely adjust this one to have a trident killer later, but it kinda negates the 'easy/early game' aspect.

Not sure why, but spawn rate is really slow. On bedrock, v1.19. I get anywhere from 2-4 drowned per evening cycle. Sim distance set to 4, put leaves up, and no other farms nearby. Any thoughts as to why the spawn rate is so low?

Leaves do not block light? Slavs do not either.. Should use solid blocks with leaves on top.. I think I’m right about the leaves.. I know slabs don’t block all light

Quick tips to help increase spawn rates 1. Build this farm over a gravel bottom ocean biome this is where most drowned spawn 2. Build this farm near an ocean ruin for some reason there are always drowned near an ocean ruin 3. Look for a place with the conditions of tips 1&2 this made my farm pretty overpowered compared to just picking a random location

It would seem the AFK platform is in the wrong height, I went 45 blocks above it, and only then did it start dropping drowned. This could be just an Xbox thing or a consul thing for all I know. But if you were AFK from 108 anywhere down even with lighting up the ocean floor it doesn’t seem to work.

My understanding of bedrock simulation rules (@4) is mobs spawn between 24-44 blocks away from the player. Things happen up to 65 blocks away like farms growing, if mobs are more than 44 blocks away they will despawn i.e your moving away from them. In a static position not moving like this farm they just won’t appear. Java simulation distance (regular) is 6 which offers mob spawns between 24-128 so should work fine for that version. So yes just build the farm lower.

If you wanted to be bougie, tinted glass will also work to shade this bad boy instead of leaves~.....and a turtle egg in the middle of the water trap will make the little guys aim for the center more quickly. Just plop it on anything that isn't sand so that the egg won't hatch!

Question: if you were to box the spawning platform in with solid blocks, would it operate the same as using the leaves? Or maybe wall the sides and make a roof of leaves instead? I've just always thought that massive leaf roofs aren't very aesthetically pleasing.

Why do we need to "farm" tridents? just curious, as I can't see a role for a lot of tridents in Minecraft, just for the few trident killers in other farms.

Depending on the farm you can throw more then one trident in the killer and have it be more effective. I could also see people wanting a lot of them for aesthetic reasons or particular builds.

I have 16 farms currently that have 2 level 5 tridents in them to boost speed. Having to manually go out and get each one would be a huge pain so this farm definitely is worth it just for the farms that utilize the trident.
