easy abstract painting technique for beginners using a palette knife and a brush. I used the palette knife to layer the acrylics, what creates the lovely textures. The brush is used to add some splashes.
Acrylic paint on canvas (40x40cm)
Colors used:
Mars Black(Sennelier"abstract"), Phthalo Green(Sennelier"abstract"), Perm Green Light(Sennelier"abstract"), Brilliant Green(Royal Talens"amsterdam"), Prussion Blue Phthalo(Royal Talens"amsterdam"), Brilliant Blue(Royal Talens"amsterdam"), Cad Yellow Deep(Sennelier"abstract"), Titanium White(Sennelier"abstract")

It's so beautifull that I had to try... Mine isn't beautifull as your's, but I never painted anything except acrylic pouring.... And I'm proud of what I did ! 😁 I 'll made progress soon... Thank you for showing us how to do. 😉

Hi Oliver watched some of your amazing Abstract demos. For all works you are applying first black layer. Are you allowing the first bk layer to dry a bit before applying top layers and blend 😊

I am very new at acrylic painting so I thought I would give this one a try. I have tried this over and over again and it never comes out right, the black turns the whole thing a grey colour and before I even get half finished the paint is all dry. I am determined to get it right. Your art is beautiful.

Hey Oliver, loving your videos ! Do you coat your canvas first and if so with what ? And what do you seal your paintings with when they are dry ?

Thank you Scott, i don't coat the canvas fist. When the painting is dry i seal it with a satin matt firnish most of the time.

When you use the brush to smooth out the paint colours do you wet the brush slightly first?

The brush is dry but i spray a bit of water on the canvas before i start to blend.

does acrylic need to be wet first? or just use the paint right away without mixing with some liquid?

Yes, i use a stencil brush for the splatter.

Just made this using black ultramarine blue lemon yellow emerald green. I used too much black and the painting has come out blackish green. Looks awful. Any idea how I could choose colors so the end result isn't muddy? I'm thinking of trying another one with umber or sienna instead of black, with perhaps pink, gold and white. But how can I make sure the end result isn't muddy?

Don’t use colors opposite of each other on the color wheel. Let the black dry . Try caring how hard u push on brush. Don’t blend to much

I tried this painting and made it look like a mud pie.. So it was a fail for me..therefore, my decision was to quit if this was for beginners...in other words...no talent.
