easy peas! how to replace your belt on your hustler zero turn lawnmower without having to drop your deck or remove anything except the rotor pulley guards

Appreciate the video. I was able to pull the belt off and install the new belt by hand with gloves on. No tools.

I appreciate the video. My belt broke Saturday (during the first weed mow of the spring) about an hour before my local mower shop closed. Personally, I found it easier to put the belt around the two rear deck pulleys first (before I put it on the drive pulley). That seemed to make it easier to get the belt around the "metal do-hickey". It would be nice if Hustler had a "deck lock" feature. That would keep the belt from rotating as you pull on it to get it onto the last (right-hand) pulley. It's a bear to hold the belt with two hands with your left foot on the rear wheel for leverage. I saw another video instructing viewers to remove the tensioning spring. You said, "No need to do that." You're right and that info is a lifesaver. Thanks again!

thanks john,.. i am trying hard to shorten some of my videos as the attention span of a lot of people is short, they get bored easily,.. as i do with some videos i watch, so i try to use my best judgment of the quality of content and time,.. i have been doing vids for quite a while,.. but after 8 years i think i am getting better at it! thank you for your comment!

I see some assholes making comments about noobs and democrats not been able to do this. I'm neither but this does happen to be my 1st zero turn and the belt popped off when I got into some deep weeds. Your video did help me realize that I should not have taken off the tensionor spring. After I watched your video I took the belt off one of the pulleys, reconnected the tensioner spring and put the belt on like you showed. Helpful video, thanks. Now, back to mowing.

I did use a screw driver and the holes in the last pulley to help pull the new belt around the pulley. The holes are on both sides so the screw driver can go all the way thru and act as a levor.

PSA! Anyone with the 36" Raptor or the 36" Alpha, please note there is a lip on the tensioner pulley that will require the partial removal of the pulley, so tool-less belt switches are not an option.

I have a Hustler Sport (is not a raptor) but the pulley setup looks the same. How do I check to make sure I get the correct belt? can't find anything to check it against...

always goto a hustler dealer to make sure you get the right size,.. the slack in the pulley allows for some slack but i am unsure about how much,.. you could always measure your old belt then look for one in the similar size,.. it should work,.. belts arent that technical about their usage LOL

thanks, I knew the length of the belt by looking it up...but when I was in town I called the local Hustler dealer and he asked me for the model # of the mower, of course I didn't know it but I told him the belt was 134.5" x 5/8ths... he proceeded to chide me and let me know unless (i drive all the way back home) I have the model number I'd probably get the wrong one. OK, guess I'll drive back home. I checked the model number, called him back, he confirmed the belt I thought it was was the correct one... then he let me know he didn't have it and would have to order it... I called another dealer about 30 mins away and he had it in stock. Picked it up and put it on and finished my mowing... thanks for your video... cheers,

Yes,🌼 allabout.wiki/Hustler the bag fills up pretty quickly when there are lots of leaves and I guess that is expected. It is quick to take the leaf catching bag off and put it back on. There is one bar with rubber ends that fits into a slot (bottom), one bar with angled ends that hangs on rubber hooks (top), and two stretchy loops that each hang on a rubber hook (one each side). You can hold the leaf catching bag with one hand full and not drop any leaves. It is NOT easy to empty it into a lawn bag without spilling. My trick: I put two lawn bags side-by-side in a large garbage bin and emptied the leaf catching bag into them. What spills falls into the garbage bin. 90% of the leaves end up in the bags this way with 0% back on the lawn.

if your belt is slipping, there could be several reason as to why it is slipping, the belt tensioner shouldn't need adjusting,.. do the blades spin freely with no belt attached? could be something else like string wrapped up in the bearing area, could be excessive wear on the belt

@@thedesertartisti have a 52in cut hustler raptor the belt doesnt crab on the pullies like it should i cut a little patch of grass and it has a hard time cutting it i bought the mower new and this is the way its been

The new tensioner spring is stronger...there also was an issue with them breaking Seems a lot of Hustler owners are complaining some about the old soft spring Great mower ...i never had that problem ..my spring broke The spring is like 8 bucks on Amazon And tightens everything up

The new replacement springs must be tighter..i can't get the belt back over...rhe side pulley....gonna need king kong

@@davidswink6653 Same here, my spring is so strong I have to push on it with my foot for it to move in any substantial distance, then i can use a ratchet strap looped around the back tire to hold it while i jimmy the belt over the last roller.
