As a player with Lich's mastery in their main deck along with a Vito + exquisite blood pair, reading the first part of Sheoldred I knew where this was going

That Gain 2 per draw literally makes Phyrexian Arena free card draw too, this card is absolutely insane

Just pulled a Phyrexian foil of this yesterday. I geeked out so hard.

The peer into the abyss combo is well known thanks to underworld dreams doing her second triggered ability but only 1 life instead of two

Try her with villis broker of blood and krrik son of yawgmoth, pay life to kill creatures, paying life draws you cards which gains you life! GGS from there!

Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose or Sanguine Bond are also invaluable here. For those who don’t know, they make a select opponent lose life equal to the life you gain, which is better that “lose 1 whenever you gain.”

Once announced, it went straight into my Raffine deck that has a lot of ways to connive for big numbers. Queza, Drogskul Reaver, Ledger Shredder, Days Undoing, Windfall, etc.

I have both of these in my Sheo deck and I love them with all my heart

Fell stingers and sign in blood would be good cards for a sheoldred deck.

A friend of mine came up with a nice one running Sheoldred, Bolas citadel, Sensei's top, and an Aetherflux reservoir.

I just came out of an Avant-première sealed tournament, which i won, got 1 in the opening and another sheoldred in the rewards. She's BONKERS, way more than her older counterpart.

I traded a DMU liliana and Misty to get her prerelease stamped. I needed it in my life. I can't say how excited I have been since seeing the card come out. Order some of the cards mentioned on here with Dread too for defense. Vito and Abyss were bought too. In standard I have been using Cut of the Profits too for pretty much free card draw. Just have be mindful of the life hit first before triggers of the card draw life gain lol.

Days undoing would be a fun one with this too

Basically, the standard Nekusar combos for the second ability, and the first is Queza with extra steps.

This card has become one of my favorite since most decks love drawing cards and it does not seem powerful until they lose half there hp form normal game play

This card will either stay steady or go up in value just because of how many combinations it has , plus its just a 4 drop insane

I just pulled a foil Phyrexian art of sheoldred last night from a dominaria set box

really enjoy Lich's mastery, cause you draw your entire library and more than likely can go infinite with one or two cards

Peer into the abyss and underworld dreams is a similar combo

I use Villis, Broker of Blood with her in a K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth & Shadowborn Apostles deck. Cast a black spell, prefereably a 1 drop like an Apostle) with 2 life each instead of the black mana, Vilis causes me to draw cards equal to the life paid, and then gain twice that much life from Sheoldred. If I also use Blood Celebrant, I can effectively pay three life for 1 mana of any color, yielding me three cards and a net gain of 3 life per mana. So I can cast any card "for free" by instead risking decking myself in increments of 2 or 3 cards, and gaining a ton of life in the process. Not truly infinite, but it pretty much never fails to win the game same. It's effectively the really weird black mana version of Enter the Infinite with Omniscience. If i can get K'rrik in play turn 1, Apostles can therotically fetch Villis into play also on turn 1, but pretty reliably on turn 2 or 3. If i use his activated ability to draw into with a drop tutor spell and a fast mana rocks or two like sol ring or mana crypt i can potentially play Shroldred on the same or next turn, making that deck arguably my best deck and easily competitive for teir 9 or 10 CEDH. I can and have pulled off a OTK with it, and games rarely lasts beyond turn 5 with it, one way or the other, it either drains my life to nothing and gets me killed, or I win before anyone can do anything except play Force of Will or another 0 or 1 drop counterspell, which is generally the only way to stall long enough for even perfectly high tier decks to get on thier feet.

You can gift Vilis to an opponent, then once they draw a card, it'll start the cycle of losing life and drawing cards (like Lich's mastery, but losing life and decking from it, whichever comes first xD)

Or vito, exquisite blood

But does it go into my Oloro or my Nekusar 🤔🤔

Already using Peer into the abyss with Nekusar Sheoldred just adds more firepower to my arsenal.

Also draw your entire Deck with with Lichs Mastery and then discard your entire hand with Sickening Dreams to oneshot everyone (you stay alive due to gaining life from drawing the cards.)

You can have your whole deck but in the end you'll still only be allowed to play 1 land

I’m planning on using her with Vilis, Broker of Blood and Blim, Comedic Genius. Hand over Vilis with Blim, life loss triggers, and they loose all their life and deck themselves

Juzam was 2bb for 5/5 In a world of 1 n 2 drops Sheoldred power crept to 4/5 with those abilities.

If you run this card in MTG Arena, you are my enemy.

What's the point? All you see in Explorer are Transmogrify, Greasefang, Angels, Mono Red, Cat & Oven and Teferi. Good luck when you get hit with Parhelion on turn 3 or Ulamog shows up on turn 3. Arena is completely unplayable now. Historic has just Muxus or Elves winning on turn 4 or Dualcaster Mage winning on turn 3.

What language was that last version of Sheoldred?

if you don't have a vito effect on the board, if you draw your entire deck, sickening dreams (1B, sorcery, discard x cards, deal x damage to each creature and player) ends the game just as well. the lifegain from sheoldred negates the damage it will do to yourself.

Also sheoldred with ob nyx ultimate equals the opponent draws 7 cards and takes 21 damage.

Remember, player removal is best removal

Man, I quit in 2019 because power creep and combo craze was just not my jam. Checking back and see it's only gotten worse!

Besides the fucking mana cost of those two playing them in one turn would be near impossible

This is a different commander but Queza auger of agonies has "when you draw a card you gain one life and your opponent loses one life". just target yourself with peer into the abyss and you have just killed someone and drawn half your Library, pair it with a card that lets you have no maximum hand size and you have pretty much just one the game

I can do something easier: Cut your losses: Target opponent mills half their library. Eldritch pact: Target player draws X cards and loses X life where X is the number cards in their graveyard. Or if you wanna be particularly nasty: Playset of Augur of Agonies. Each time you draw a card, You gain 6 life, your opponent loses 4 life.

You could also deck yourself for the win with something like thassas oracle

the second combo doesn't work if they are a life gain deck and have enough life... for example 200 life and 60 leave them with a life total of 40. which means they are still in the game now with 40 life and 30+ cards in hand and 30 cards in their library

I can't wait to get a new sheoldred! Well shit... I'm poor and she's like 50 bucks...

She's very good in group hug style decks. You can use her as the killer/drainer whenever you cause those group hug draws where everybody draws. People could get mad at you, buy free cards right?
