Had to use backup! Measured new nut same size. Had 4 and a half threads counting the half sized starter thread. Finished w starter thread and 3 so lost one. Also 13.5 revolutions ended up wayyy loose only one thread showing and super easy to turn still. Used .5” wrench w socket to get it “Gutentight”. Almost as much as I could w the same wrench. Sketchy but hopefully good! Blasted vent out too. Companion flange came off by hand w puller and socket weird. No wrench. Lost marks you gotta scratch and mark! And don’t use a paint sharpie. Paint pen w scratches is the only way. We’ll see how it goes. Welp alls good on a hour twenty drive. I feel like my car feels a bit heavier but idk could be placebo. At least I’m not at less than a quart now. That’s all that came out.

Love the video’s! I can relate to almost all of them. I have 2 mustangs and 2 older mopar muscle cars. Couple years ago I started using permatex part # 81182 made specific for gear oils works awesome never had a cover leak.

I bought the gasket from Lmr. I’m going to use it instead of the rtv. Hopefully it won’t leak !

Can I use the RTV with a felpro gasket? If so, should I do a bead like you did or just a think layer to hold the gasket in place? Thanks in advance

Broke an axle at the track and chipped up the spider gears the other night. When I was going over everything I noticed every ring gear nut was hand tight...... what could cause that?

These can’t be pumped out? Swear last time I did mine I pumped it out through the fill plug and haven’t had any issues. Don’t see any videos without pulling the cover though

Always, always, always remove the fill plug FIRST, to make sure it's not seized...especially in salt states

Anyone know what a low whirring noise on a 98 may be, no noise in N, hope not Trans. thanks for video.
