Just a heads up for all the guys. Yes, I know I'm too late, but in case your thinking about it for next year. This gift may be better if given by a woman. I figured I'd try this since my wife watches every video and tries every recipe, and she very matter of factly told me that I should wear it, and get to work in the kitchen, then went on strike. Many days of sprinkling flower petals around, lighting candles, playing romantic music and I'm out of the dog house. I do remember my dad buying my mom a vacuum once and that didn't go over very good either.

We call them smocks, make them out of leather and accessorize them with welding hoods and power tools.. It's cool when a gal gets into that stuff too. As far as me getting too detailed in the kitchen, well, she can have all the help she wants in the form of hired assistance, cleaning crews, cooks. I will hire her a staff, but it ain't worth me burning the house down in the name of "fairness."

I’ve been sewing for five decades. In my opinion, you’re much better off buying a good vintage sewing machine than a newer one, for the same price. I would recommend a vintage elna, Pfaff or Singer. You should be able to find a good one for around $100, if not less. They were built much more sturdy and with quality parts. Hope this helps!

@@22304abc I would probably look on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Maybe see if a sewing machine repairman in your area might have one or know where the best place might be to find one. If you lived near me in SW Idaho, I would give you one, I have about 10 I need to pass on to others!

That is a great idea to look for a vintage one! My daughter has the basic Brother machine from walmart, and puts a ton of miles on it. Still works great! Just avoid computers, and go for actual turn knobs. I’ve found that less goes wrong with those.
