For those who come across the problem of it being all grayed out on each option. just hit "delete volume" then select "new volume' and it will let you format and add a drive letter then it should be working fine!

OK, how to get your computer to see and use an External Hard Drive Docking Station for 3.5 in after you tried all the other fixes! The thing is I bought a cinolink a while ago and it works when nothing else has so i bought another one but that one was just like the others and wouldn't work. Any idea what the Compaies changed in the firmware? Or what I can do out side of buying a new Computer? I've done all the Disk management things and tried looking for driveras but so far it's a bust!

You are the ♂️ man!! I got a 2 TB hard drive from Amazon from a off brand manufacturer. I hooked it up to the computer but the computer didn't show it. After watching 👀 your video I was able to get the hard drive to show on the computer 💻.

question I did everything you, expert I changed the litter because my hard drive had letter J but it would not open, after I follow what you did. now if I try to open it I get S;\ is not accessible, The request failed due to fatal device Hardware error. and it's RAW it will not format

My 10Tb MyBook is not seen in Windoze(10 Pro), or drive manager, although it IS seen in Device Manager, and reports working. My NAS reported an error trying to read a small partition on the drive, so I replaced it back into my Windoze PC and deleted the small partition and extended the main partition into it. Now it's not available!?! Can anyone help please? I'm thinking that WD created that small partition for some kind of boot up/launch app.

I need to know how to get the data off before formatting. It was given to me by a recovery service but my pc won't recognize it to take the data off of it to transfer to an external meant for xbox one games ... HELP ME PLEASE!

Im hoping someone can help me. I have a external drive that works on my linux pc aswell as other devices such as straight into my tv. It will not come up on my windows 11 machine. Ive tried everything in this video and nothing. the system bleeps to recognise the harddrive being plugged in but no way of actually viewing it, it also has a light on the drive indicating its getting power. Yes the usb ports work. Have tested with other drives. The harddrives formatted to NTFS which i done on the linux machine.

Right clicking on the problem drive has everything grayed out besides "delete volume" and "help". Any advice?

how to check the drive to see if anything was written to it before it stopped working? the white light on my wd external drive doesnt come on, it worked on my old pc, not on new one, i tried a laptop i couldn't figure out. please help. I can still rma wd but dont want to until i verify nothing is on the drive.

my issue is that my SeaGate external drive is not recognized in disk management and yet the blue light is on and is solid. It also does not display on My Computer. I have tried to connect it to another computer using different usb cable and it still does not recognize that a new device has been plugged in. I have a backup external hard drive, same model and make and plugged it in my computer and it recognized it right a way. Ha this problem once before but forgot how I fixed it. All I know is that my Data has not been deleted.

My drive is Disk 2 but not showing a drive letter and is showing offline(The disk is offline because it has a signature collision with another disk that is online) any suggestions?

Nope. My Passport Wireless Pro shows up on one laptop and also my phone but is not recognized on my new Dell XPS. Doesn't show in device manager anywhere, doesn't show in disk manager. Downloaded WD SES driver, reset and updated Passport on the working laptop but still nothing happens on the XPS.

My WD Passport was from my Dell laptop - and all of the files work fine as long as i am connected to my Dell laptop. But now i want to use it from my HP laptop. I have already set it up on the Dell laptop, i know my password, for the HP laptop it opens up and can see folders and does not ask for a password .. i also changed the letter drive - but for some reason none of the files show up correctly. When i plug in my WD the HP does not ask for password. How do i fix this?

HELP! My WD Passport Drive all of a sudden is not showing up on my laptop. I can hear it running, it has a light, but doesn't show. A pop up window showed up when I followed your directions and asks me to choose MBR or GBT. Which do I choose? I don't want to lose my data already on my drive. Please and THANK YOU! ☺

Thank you, but i can't fine a way to fix mine yet. It is a "WD My Passport Ultra". Had a WD encrypted in it. So, before i can access it will show the volume letter for the encrypted before allowing me to access it. Now it only showing me a volume lick a CD plate and that after several minutes of plug in. So the volume appears and disappear. what can i do to fix this sir?

Hi, my external hard just doesn't want to be recognized. when I go to Disk Management, it only shows Disk: (D:) "No Media" but my external hard drive was never formatted considering I was just using it 30 minutes before it disappeared. I'm a DJ and I was just I can keep all my data before it get formatted. when I go into details, it doesn't show the disk capacity or anything. I would like to retrieve all my data. What can you suggest?
