I thought I needed a new battery too for a second time but all it was the battery itself wasn't in contact properly with the vac case contacts. Had to place a small flat piece of plastic behind the contact screws to push it forward for better contact to the battery itself. It's Worked!!!

i had to watch this video twice to work out if this guy was actually serious when diagnosing the problem of the dead battery by suggesting to buy a new one. Considering the title of the video is called "Easy fix handheld hoover that turns off after a few secs", u'd expect the video to demonstrate a cheap/free fix hack that would save you from having to do the OBVIOUS which is to buy/replace the battery but no this joker wastes 3-4 mins of any half normal persons life who expected to watch this video to see a clever, unthinkable, cheap/free solution to fix this problem without having to do the obvious and purchase a new battery. well done einstien. who would of ever thought that buying a new battery instead of buying a whole new hoover would of been an available option in this day an age when knowing that any other battery operated device would also carry the same easy fix solution when the battery finally dies. CLASSIC.

It's not the batteries. I repurpose many Li ion batteries and if they take a full charge, there is nothing wrong with any cells. I charged my Dyson battery only about 30 times before it started to act up and shut down. There is a shit load of control circuitry on Dysons and it looks like they really cut corners on the electronics. The max setting seems to draw too many amps for the 6 cells in series they use, or the contact points don't make a good connection and are arcing. For the price Dyson should do a better job. The ease of use and ergonomics are great, but the build quality is pathetic. Electronics is a hobby of mine and I know the difference between high quality electronics and pathetic. Dyson has pathetic in build quality, regarding the electronics, including the contact points to transfer power.

Thanks for this video. I just got a dyson cordless at a second hand store and the battery keeps cutting out. I cleaned it out real good and kept doing it. Now to try a new battery! Hopefully that works!

I am on my 3rd battery. First one (the oem that came with) lasted less than 6 months. Dyson sent me a replacement and that one lasted only a matter of weeks. The 3rd one is an aftermarket one and it has lasted over a year. It is getting expensive at this point. I’m ready to pull out my 1950s filter queen again.

It's not the battery. Take it apart and clean it. It has two filters. One on the back too that you can pop off at the handle after removing the trieo screws.

my vacuum did the same thing and I ordered a new battery and it worked until it drained the new battery and then went back to the same problem....it charges up but it doesnt seem to charge up enough so I think the problem is in the charging pads

Mine doesn't work with a 4 amp dyson battery. Took the whole thing apart and cleaned it. Motor in my hand.

My Dyson kept cutting out. I bought a new battery. It was ok for a bit then it went back to cutting out again. Waste of time and money.

Bought a new battery from Amazon,lasted a month. Apparently a new battery is 70 quid. Amazon 26 quid as they're copies and absolutely gash. Buy a proper Dyson battery.
