Easy fix of Dodge Grand Caravan parking brake cannot brake hard

The rear caliper return springs have quality defect and wrmere all broken gone after several years of use, after that the parking brake couldn't brake hard and couldn't return well. Just adding the spring would fix it!

这个弹簧是会掉落，造成驻车刹车不回位，但是让驻车要刹得紧，这个还不够，要确保这个CALIPER的旋进活塞是到极限的，就是说能从刹车的感觉不是软的那个间歇，否则刹车要踩到深的位置才开始出现刹车力量，这个就是这个旋转活塞没有跟着移动的原因，它的设计是每次刹车旋转的时候活塞会跟着转，把空隙尽量填补，但是如果当这个CALIPER内部有生锈，这个转动跟进的机制就被破坏了，这个时候需要这个CALIPER重建，换新的几个橡胶垫及防尘套，这个车的刹车盘有330，328，305mm三种规格，买330MM的重建套装，CALIPER REBUILD KIT不容易找到，我买错了4个这种配件（现在还没有确定，配件店就是用刹车盘的尺寸来问我的，实际上是CALIPER活塞的口径才是要判断的），重新买整套CALIPER发现还好是错的，要非常细致核对清楚才可以买 提醒下，如果CALIPER机制没有问题，调整的方法是每次更换刹车盘及刹车片的时候，需要把活塞重新扭进去，等安装到位以后，就手动拨动这个驻车连杆，模拟手刹的过程，让这个活塞再最大程度转出来，把缝隙填满，否则刹车会很深，很软，我最近一次刹车维护车行没有明白这个CALIPER的维护，总算在KZfaq看懂有点人是怎么维护这个部分

I had the exactly same problem with the spring fell off completely (might be rust from salt) on my Grand Caravan which only has 55k km on it! These brake calipers are really weak for the car of this size. They shifted to heavier duty ones (2 front pistons) but still under powered. I am thinking of replacing calipers all together with after market sets. The Dodge Grand Caravan (2012 +) has 2 kinds of brake systems. Old kind with single front piston, new kind with double front pistons (the rear calipers are also different). Just make sure to get the correct ones that would fit your mini van.
