Fantastic idea of putting both keepers on , then depressing the spring so they just get hooked in the groove all by themselves. Worked like a charm, and I thank you for the idea.

To add to your tool get a rubber hose that fits loose around valve stem and fits in side your keeper and put it through your valve tool push

Take your gloves off , a bit of oil can’t hurt, tilt the head so it’s 90 deg plumb so the retainer can’t fall out side ways.

Thats F's awesome! I spent up to 5 minutes per valve with a compressor trying to get these friggin things in! Gotta try it now with a pipe and a slug although my stems sit higher off the keepers....? Probably just counter bore the slug.

How did you keep the valves from moving down when you installed the springs & keepers?
@manosparavida3551

I find the Keepers go back in more successfully if you put them side by side, as opposed to one above and one below. It's a gravity thing. Just ask Isaac 😉😆

Yes that is a pretty common technique that works well! You can also use string. I had the head off to do a head gasket anyway

@JDMods Garage I've got 2 valves with slightly unseated keepers 1 has just 1 a lottke unseated won't obvs allow shims . Other likeky font need much to sort . May need to do string trick feel a pillock as all seals replaced can't believe I failed to notice it. If I use compressed ait what do others use to seal ? And pressire needed ?

Like my Toyota 4age 20 valve? I have a Lisle 36200 tool that worked well on my S2000 but it's way too big for the 4age 20 valve! I had to abandon the valve stem seal replacement. I wonder if the 36050 will be small enough

He was just showing what happens if you use the tool "as is" vs. The mod he used so the tool worked even better, great video man! Almost quit mechanics altogether because of installing keepers/ springs until I came across a similar video like this except in the other video he used a piece of foam in the socket instead of a dowel which both seem to work and I've tried 4 different spring compressor tools, they all fckn suck not to mention none of them worked for getting my exhaust valves out sooo had to make my uh "own way" lol mechanics at its finest I guess!
