Dude you’re an absolute life saver been just finessing these on with the socket and it’s taken me HOURS to do 13 of the 16 valves on this Toyota sequoia head. With this trick the last three took about 3 minutes🙏

I tried this on a basic Toyota 2e 1.3 12v engine to replace valve stem seals while the head is on the engine and in the car..this combined with the 'Rope' Top dead centre method..(there many threads on it)..I changed valve stem seals with the head on my engine in my car in an hour or two..no more exhaust smoke from leaky seals and improved my timing aswell. Thanks for the awesome tip and trick. Just a note: for this to work you need to put a fair amount of elbow grease in it

I have been struggling (and cursing) trying to replace the valve seals on my NA MR2. Spent most of the day just on the exhaust valves on cyl. #1 (the easiest). Ready to give up. Tried your method, and I installed both exhaust keepers on cyl. #3 in 15 minutes. Nothing more satisfying than hearing the click of those keepers falling into place. THANK YOU for the tip.

I'm using a cut up sponge inside a socket which works well also but I wanna try this method. I'll recommend if I feel different about this method

Did not work better. The plastic stretched to much causing it to be loose and I have to press down to far causing the loose plastic to bust and the clips would go inside the socket. 😢

A piece of sponge crammed into a socket is far more robust than a plastic sealey bag.

All these tricks are great, but seem to work when gravity is working for you in the vertical. I'm pressing these onto a horizontal Kawasaki single cylinder mower engine.
