You won’t believe how easy it is to take a cup of soybeans and turn it into a block of tofu! And you won’t believe how delicious homemade tofu is, especially when you eat it fresh! All you need is three ingredients….soybeans….lemon juice, either fresh or reconstituted, and water.

That was very interesting. I have never eaten Tofu, as far as I know but I like to try anything. First I will try the Store bought just in case, but even though I am not Vegartarian I still like non-meat alternatives.

@@TikkiOOO Minor update/FYI: Cloths included in your excellent tofu-press find seem to vary. Mine have neatly finished edges and appear finer than the one you used. They swell tight and don't drain. 0/2. Hunting for cheesecloth. :)

The skin off the top can be dried and used for all sorts of things! Some people just make skins from the soy milk.

For variation, the finished tofu could be soaked (better boiled then leave to cool in the spice water) in turmeric - garlickz ground coriander -salt water to add some natural colour and flavour, then it will become the yellow tofu that we eat daily down here, greetings from Bandung (happend to be raised in a village thats famous for its yellow tofu)

I don’t like tofu, but I make cheese at home, saw this mold on the internet and was wondering about it. Now I saw it in action used by person I 100% trust, so I’m definitely going to buy it. Thank you Tikki, you rock as always! ❤️🌹🌷😍

Oh, and tofu is almost tasteless. What matters is what you do with the tofu--seasonsings, preparation. Try a nice tofu scramble with soy sauce, kala namak, and nutritional yeast. Sooooo good.

Great demonstration. I haven't tried using it myself (yet!), but I've read that the leftover whey/water from the pressing stage can be used like aquafaba from canned chickpeas. Oh and it just happens that I made a batch of okara waffles for my children's lunch today. Mix the okara with some flour, eggs, milk, cinnamon and sugar (optional), before cooking in a waffle iron. So tasty!

I wonder if there's a way to make it low fat? This looks so easy and I'd like to do it but have to have lower fat since I have heart disease. Enjoyed your vid!!!

Hello SouthernLady 1/4 cup of tofu has 7 grams of fat according to Google....not sure how to make it low fat though, interesting question!

I never liked the tofu from the grocery, it doesn't taste the same. This could also be a fun project to do with kids who are home schooled or quarentining, fun and educational for them. Next is cheese making.... Thanks for the comment!

Hi, thanks for the guide to making this delish looking tofu.. Just checking recipe 1 cup dried soybeans to 5 cups water after soaking beans which have become about 3 cups?

Yes but you need use more then one cup if you want to make decent size but just doing for fun yes use one cup

I cooked the soaked soybeans (3 cups dry) in the pressure cooker with 3 liters of water. My question is, after blending, do I have to bring the milk to a boil again or just warm it up & add the lemon juice? TIA

Boil and then remove from stove put some lemon juice wait about 15-20 minutes

You're supposed to boil for at least 15 minutes to get rid of all the lectin in the beans that can make you sick

Hello Jennifer, great question, I don't have an answer. My observation is that people from Asian countries have been consuming soy for eons, and still do. That doesn't make it good or bad, however its a great source of plant based protein. For myself I believe in moderation, too much of anything is not good. I did a quick review of the literature and I can see there are both benefits and cautions listed, this is definitely above my pay grade. I will stick with my own way, which is moderation on everything except for coffee. If you have serious health issues then I would err on the side of caution. If you are otherwise healthy then I believe moderation is key. Same with Dunkin Donuts, moderation is key! Sorry I couldn't give you a straight answer (I don't think there is one)....

@@TikkiOOO Oh, this is too funny😂 I worked in Dunkin Donuts for 25 yrs. back in the day when we served soup and French bread. People would sit at the counter for hours. They’d buy a cup of ☕️ in a ceramic cup and get endless free refills. So yeah, I’m a total coffee head too! Thanks so much for getting back to me. As far as getting a straight answer about anything....ya gotta use your own instincts and like you said, moderation. I’m on my first batch ever of broccoli sprouts, wish I this earlier😉 Jenny
