Do you think that I can learn how to open a pool in two weeks and start offering pool opening for clients at the beginning of this season (mid April)? I never opened neither maintained a pool before but the demand for this type of service in extremely high in my area! Where should I go to learn everything that I need?

I’m a pool man and I would like to know if it’s ok to clean my clients spa filters weekly? Is there any harm in doing so?

If you are cleaning the spa filters every two weeks (or even monthly) and both the spa water and filter appear clean in between services then your current schedule is fine. Spraying down filters is time consuming so weekly is usually overkill unless high bather load or used daily. I hose down filters once a month, spray degreaser every 2 months, soak overnight every 3 months.

“Scum balls”? Does the jets have to be on when placing the skim balls into the pool?

On the scum balls they just float on top of the water normally they end up in the filter housing out of the way and soak up the oils off the top of the water. You just leave them in all the time. Cleaning the filter weekly is not a problem. Thanks for watching Erick!

Question, Why would my total chlorine be high 7.7 but free chlorine to be low Zero and how do you fix that?

When your free chlorine is lower than your total chlorine you have combined chlorine or basically your free chlorine is used up or attached to unwanted stuff in your water. To free it up and make your total chlorine free again use a non chlorine shock. This will allow the total chlorine in the spa to do its job again with out adding even more chlorine to your tub.

@@Poolelementary Thanks for the reply, so should I add Non Chlorine shock now or take the cover off a couple of days and hope the total chlorine goes below 3.5? Then add the non chlorine shock?

I would shock it now if your free chlorine is zero and total is 7+. This is telling me there is something in your water that is eating your free chlorine up. Shock it until you get a consistent 1-3 ppm free chlorine with your cover open for atleast 20 minutes to let it off gas. If your water is completely clean and sanitized your total chlorine level will be the same as your free chlorine level.

Oh and by the way chlorine levels in the 7 area is still safe considering hotels have to keep there pools and spas between 4ppm-8ppm of free chlorine at all times.

@@Poolelementary thanks I appreciate the quick reply! I just filled it about week and 1/2 ago and added the frog@ease floater with the chlorine on one side and minerals on the other. I did add some gradual chlorine shock after a week could that be what threw everything off?
