Ya definitely don’t have to pull the drain plug. The water will run out while removing the bolts. An pulling it apart. Removing the plug is just an extra step. Ad most loosen the clear lid cover

Blue in 24 hours not clear. To have it clear in 24 hours we would of used a flocculant which is in another one of our how to videos. Sorry

Subscribed! I own a few water parks in India, and even though a lot of stuff shown in this video isn't available here in India readily, the video helped a lot. We get a lot of people everyday in the pool and so we need to shock the pools everyday. We need the pool clear within 12-15 hours. It's a tough job to do. We manage to keep the water blue, but keeping it clear and non cloudy is the biggest problem. Have been trying to find an answer for that at our scale. We manage about 1 million gallons of water a day per water park.

Just hooked up a new sand pump and when I put it to waste it’s spraying out sand. Is it because I put in to much sand or is there a way to stop this from happening?
@Poolelementary19 сағат бұрын
Something must be wrong with the valve itself for the system because when the valve is on waste no water should travel through the filter at all.

Great Video! I have the exact same hot tub! I really hate the control panel. Its really hard to use when it gets even a little wet. I bought a Wifi controller so that I can use my phone or even my Apple watch to control it!

Did you have to do any balancing before shocking this thing? Also, how important is it to get the PH, alkalinity, hardness, and other minerals at the perfect level before adding chlorine? I just can't seem to get the water clear even after shocking it. The hardness is a color that doesn't even match the chart. I checked it many times, but the hardness doesn't match. It doesn't even match when I test my tap water, straight out of the faucet. I'm not sure if it's way too high or low because it doesn't match. I'm thinking I'll try vacuuming it out first. Our cover was really dirty and a lot of stuff fell in when I removed the cover. Looking back, I should've cleaned the cover first, but it's our first year. I wish I'd done more reading before messing with it. If you have any advice, I'd appreciate it.

I have a question so once you flocculate and let it circulate. Do you shut the pump off to let it settle?

Correct, let settle for 12-48 hours depending upon how long it takes to settle out.

@anthonyzeoli94042 күн бұрын
Do you need s and filter for this or can you do it with a cartridge filter?
@Poolelementary2 күн бұрын
Sand filter set to waste works best. Cartridge filter systems usually require some kind of bypass to vacuum past the filter.
@anthonyzeoli94042 күн бұрын
You mean you can't vaccum through the filter? Is this because it will clog the filter?
@PoolelementaryКүн бұрын
You can vacuum through the filter but yes you would be cleaning it everytime your pressure went up 10 psi on your pressure gauge.

I put it to the suction hole on the bottom of the skimmer.

It's annoying when vaccum to waste having the shut off the pump periodically and cleaning the pump filter basket if there is a lot of debris. Any solutions to this other than a top plate over your skimmer Inlet ? Also if vaccum to waste by passes the filter why would your pressure meter increase as if it were needed to get backwashed ?
@PoolelementaryКүн бұрын
There isn't much more we can do besides the skimmer plate. If you notice your pressure gauge going up on your filter when vacuuming to Waste you might have a bad multiport gasket.

when dumping the floc into the skimmer, you said circulate 2 hrs, yet next you say it's been 8 hrs. Then you say "flip the switch on the pool pump" do you mean turn it off for the night? Great vid. Thanks
@Poolelementary2 күн бұрын
I usually circulate the floc for atleast 2 hours and then let the pool set with the pump off long enough for the floc to work and settle everything out. Usually 12- 24 hours but sometimes it can take days if there is disturbance to the water such as if it's windy or rainy out.

This never works for me. Poolmis green and I clean and balance and triple or quad shock it and stil teal. I end up double shocking again and then maybe itll go blue cloudy and then it's like that for a week or more with the filter running 24/7. I hate openimg my pool! I either suck at it or it's my well water which what I think is the issue. 😢😢

My pool was completely full of leaves this spring (injured in october and didn't cover pool for the winter) and it turned very dark green. I've managed to get the chemicals right and the leaves out, but I stll can't see the bottom even in the shallow end. It has gone from a dark dark green to an emerald green. I'm concerned that if I use flock and the water doesn't clear up at least so I can see the bottom, I will not even be able to see to vacuum out the flock. Any suggestions? And great video!!!

@Poolelementary5 күн бұрын
You should definitely check ph. Your shock will have better results if your ph is between 7.2-7.5

So if its high do i put soda ash in it?
@Poolelementary4 күн бұрын
If it's high you want to bring it down with some kind of acid product. In pools we use muriatic acid or a granular pool ph down.

Soda ash brings the ph up.

Great video! You covered so much useful information! I have a question about the Floc. I have heard you have to be careful with it because it can ruin your filter. So after you do the first vacuum, is it then safe to put the filter back to filter (vs recirculate)? Or what should I look for to know it’s safe to do so? Thanks!
@Poolelementary8 күн бұрын
Yes you can resume filtering after your first vacuum. Floc doesn't necessarily ruin filters it just tends to plug them up fast and they require cleaning.

Your pump will start to show signs of water leaking out of the bottom of your pump where the motor meets the plastic wet end of the pump.

I have added 15 lbs of shock and 6 gallons of liquid chlorine and it turned a little and seems to be going back to green . What do I do now ?
@Poolelementary11 күн бұрын
I would check the free chlorine levels and if there not atleast 3parts per million it wasn't enough chlorine. Make sure to add chlorine in the evening to get the most out of it due to the sun cooking it off quickly. If you don't want to add a bunch more chlorine you can try to vacuum out alot of the algae on the bottom of the pool to waste. This will help get rid of some of the organic material eating up all your chlorine. Also make sure your ph is close to 7.2. High ph also reduces your chlorines ability to kill the algae.

What sweeper head do you use? Brand/model, etc. I use a wide flexible head with wheels, I think I got from Leslie's. It seems it only picks up in the center section where the hose connects, rather all along the head. Also, it seems to stir up the algae, same as the concern you mentioned. Does it matter that much which head to use, as long as we go slow? Thanks
@tightwaddad12 күн бұрын
I was wondering about the water level. Your comment helps with that, too.

Will this same process work with an above ground pool and simple above ground filter?
@Poolelementary12 күн бұрын
Sorry it's not an effective way to clean your pool up without a sand filter or some way to bypass your above ground pool filter. I would suggest a partial drain of the pool and then super chlorinating it and use a filter aid product to help get the rest of the dead algae out with sweeping and vacuuming.
@crystalmfrancois12 күн бұрын
I do have a sand filter with the waste and circulation options. I am assuming it will still work with that filter.
