when ever I try to setup the pixel I get this error This redirect failed because this application cannot use a Facebook-owned URL as an OAuth redirect URI.

@@imjacknewman I deleted all of my older events from 2021 and back. I started new using your tutorial as a refresher to optimize my FB Manager for the new ios 14 issue. And all the error messages have went away, so again, Thank you! I'm good on setting up tracking pixels at the browser level but now I want to set them up on the secondary level you suggested: "Server." I checked and I do have Google Tag Manager, though I did not really set it up as far as I remember. It is active in my Thrive Architect pixel settings. I'm going to check it out now. At least I can begin running my test creatives for my program. I'll speak with you on the 4th. I shared my website info in my message to your calendar. I'm on my personal email here for privacy!

Thank you for this video. I have setup my pixel and events, linked it to my ad account, tested it, setup a Campaign, an Adset and an Ad. When I try to publish my ad, I get an error on the Adset, saying a Pixel is required. Any advice will be appreciated. 😊

Hi there, please make sure you have set the pixel you would like to use on your campaign at the ad set level.

great video. I was wondering if you could help me out. Am really getting frustrated with my pixel. I created a meta pixel, integrated the pixel and the CAPI onto my website, set the events I want to monitor, tested them verified the domain, etc. I have literally done everything. My pixel is active, but when I go to my add campaign and I tick the tracking website events box, it says "your meta pixel is not active". above this it also says that "pixel is missing from this page". I don't understand why this is happening when i can see that the pixel says that it is active and i think it is connected to my business account. i think the issue however my be about what accounts the pixel is in but i dont really know. can you please help.

Heya there, off the top of my head I can't think of what would be causing the issue. Normally for something like that i'd recommend jumping on a consult call to go through the issue on zoom and look to rectify it directly with you. When adding my URL to Facebooks event setup tool, I firstly click enter and it sends me to the webite but the little box with the events etc in it, does not appear. Also, the button saying open website is still greyed out permanalty a bit like yours is in this video at 9:00. I would love your help on this as I need to set one up for a client and am really struggling, thanks.

Hi Ben, make sure you are doing this from a chrome or firefox browser. If you are doing it from safari, then it will not work unfortunately.

The question should I do what is in this tutorial and set the pixel using the event setup tool then go to the back end and set the pixel with GTM on the browser side and server side.

Hi Pete, Using the event set-up tool is a completely different type of set-up to the one listed in the video. I would always suggest staying away from the event set-up tool, as it only sends browser side data and it isn't possible to link this up with a server side set-up for the full ConversionAPI and deduplication.

@@imjacknewman so basically once you set the browser side container and server side container in GTM then you dont need to setup the Browser side container using the event setup tool? The reason why this puzzles me is in the event setup style you could tell it the button it should mark as a conversion when clicked and you could prioritize events e.g complete page registrations high priority, page view low priority, and also in that section I think you can also tell it the allowed domains. So you want to tell me there is no need for all of this and I should only do the server side and browser side tracking on GTM since it can cover all those, is that what you mean? This is where I am most confused, its like what I am understanding is setting the pixel with the event setup tool as we used to do in the past has become completely irrelevant nowadays and we should stick to only using GTM to set it up as in the other 30 min tutorial of yours.

Hi Pete, correct that is essentially what I am saying. For a button click for example, you can use information from within GTM to designate specific button ID clicks to be triggers for events if that is what you are using as the marker for a conversion. Though I would advise against using a button click as a trigger in most cases anyway, as for things like forms, there are instances where the button may click but the form may not actually be submitted due to errors in the information people input. Using GTM, you also can prioritise tags to designate the order in which different tags are fired off if there is a specific need for this function. Purely making use of browser events (as is the limitation of the event set-up tool) is now considered to be below the expected standard for current meta tracking implementations. New restrictions on tracking mean that it is a necessity for most businesses to implement a conversion API in terms of tracking accuracy.

@@imjacknewman Thanks infact after doing the server side tracking I tried to verify my new domain and noticed in that section the scroll buttons no longer work, they have been greyed out, so you cant verify your domain, I reached out to facebook support about this, they dont even know what is going on. Turns out those scroll buttons were infact greyed out on purpose by facebook you don't have to verify your domain with facebook nowadays, you just set up the tracking and are good to go. I ran my ads and the results are even more weird they are inflated but in a good way. The amount of leads I am getting inside my platforms console are way more than the ones facebook is recording in its dashboard. Lol!
