Hi Raquel, how are you! Well thank you. You don't suck, you're just thinking about it in a not helpful way it sounds. If you think about exactly what YOU need and how you need that certain area to work for you it will make all the difference for you when putting together a space. Just like I say... "my exact plan won't work exactly for you, but find things that I do that can't help your current situation'. We are all different and have different needs and if you can figure out (I even sometimes write down what I need that space to do for me) exactly how you need a space to work for you it will be so helpful. I love your laundry room! I like your system, too, but personally I prefer to do all the laundry on one day. I generally do it the same day each week, and I plan to be home that day so I can move loads from washer to dryer and fold/hang clothes as they come out of the dryer. When I'm done, I wipe down the machines, sweep the floor, and put the baskets away, and the room is clean and tidy and I don't have to go back in there for another week. That's what works for me, but I love seeing other people's systems because, as you said, we can all learn from each other. Thanks for sharing this!

Hanging it up right away.👌🏼 I love that! I bet it’s less work later getting wrinkles out too. I don’t separate by color. 🙈Maybe when the kids are bigger. I have found that doing loads per family member is easiest for me and I don’t have to sort it out. Thanks so much for this!

That’s exactly how I do laundry....hangers handy. If it’s dress clothes I will take one piece out at a time and restart the dryer in between so nothing gets wrinkles. I do at least one load of laundry daily as well....usually two. People look at me like I have two heads when I say I only have one laundry basket, but it never gets overfilled, so why have more than one?! :) I also color coordinate hangers for each person, it’s so handy!

I have always done it that way. It's the way I was brought up. I couldn't believe how many people don't separate colors whites darks etc..I honestly couldnt tell you if I ever threw clothes in a basket to fold later. I hate wrinkles so when I hear the dryer buzz, I'm right there ready to fold the laundry. Now I'll be honest I am one to fluff the laundry to put it off for later. I'm also bad about putting the laundry away. Thats another story. As long as its folded it's easier to ignore baskets of folded laundry. I have gotten so much better with that. I love your laundry room, we are in the process of redecorating our house and the laundry room is on the top of my list. TFS a great video HUGGS Terrie new subscriber🤗🤗

I just renovated our laundry room. I added a wall of open shelves to place folded laundry as it comes out of the dryer and a hanging bar. I got rid of all laundry baskets around the house (each bedroom, bathroom, etc,) except one nice tall wicker one. The basket filled with items to wash comes down stairs to the laundry room once a day, after it's empty, I place folded items from the shelves in the basket, carrying it upstairs, put everything away, put the basket back in place at the top of the stairs ready for the next day. We're empty nesters now, but I can't help but wish I'd used this system back when the kiddos were home.

I also do a load a day but I do towels/sheets on Mondays. Kids clothes on Tuesdays and my clothes on Wednesday and then misc like rugs etc on Thurs and then Fri is my husband's clothes. I will separate darks for hubby's clothes but the rest of us don't wear lights. The weekends I don't do laundry either. Great tips of hanging in the laundry room and not keeping them in there forever (guilty of this!)

YES! This if very similar to how I do laundry. Keeping hangers in the laundry room and hanging them as soon as they come out of the dryer is key!!!! I keep a steamer in my laundry room as well so I can immediately get rid of any wrinkles too!

My friend told me years ago that If you do one load of laundry a day the laundry will not pile up and become overwhelming. Like you said, 1 load a day is so much less stressful and easier than 5 loads in one day. Love your videos, I'm a new subscriber today.

This is exactly how I used to do my family's laundry when my kids were smaller. Always pants on Mondays, shirts on Tuesdays, etc. Never on the weekends except maybe bedsheets. It's harder now because I expect my kids to do their own and they haven't got the system down yet. They let it sit too long. (high school and college aged and busy lives) But I'm trying to get back to this because it feels like I never really did laundry yet it was always done.

I started doing this about a year ago, it really is a game changer. Sanity saver too. Laundry is going to be there regardless, it's far less daunting when one load gets done a day. Folding clothes for 3 hours is for the birds. Also, you're hilarious. 😂

Great routine sounds like the Fly Lady system I do 1 load of laundry daily and it has made a world of difference in my life and I don’t stop till it’s folded and put away 👍🏽

Yes. I’m with you...one load everyday. I’ve got a schedule of what I do as well. I love that accordion rack. Such a great idea. Unfortunately, I don’t have room for that in my laundry closet. I agree, it’s just easier to hang them up right from the dryer and get them put away. I don’t like leaving things in the basket. I use the Flylady process to stay on top of things and you’re right. One load a day!

Yes! I do 1 to 2 loads a day too. My washer/dryer is in the garage so I hang dry and then fluff in the dryer (except towels and underwear/socks). Then I put in the large laundry basket, and toss, fold, and immediately put away. My loads are: towels, bedding (kids together, master separate), adult laundry, kids laundry, and socks/undies combined. I do separate heavy items too (sweaters, jeans) but not light/dark.

I do a load a day, it keeps the stress away. On Wednesday's and Saturday's I do two loads. It minimizes the laundry pile up. I also have a laundry sorter, so I empty my main basket into categories. This method was life changing for me.

I'm lucky my husband takes care of laundry. We live in housing for the elderly in RI and the laundromat is right across the hall from us. Mike is very organized

You should stick the next days load in on a timer once you are finished with your current load so when you wake up the load is finished and you can just put it in the dryer. Eliminates one entire trip that can easily be forgotten. You can usually delay wash 24 hours if you want.

I do laundry daily as well. However I don’t have certain days designated for certain types of laundry. If I have a load I do it. I change sheets Monday’s and Thursdays so I wash them on those days.

A better idea according to zone cleaning which has us doing one load of laundry a day yes we are still doing one load but it is separated in to different types of fabric. Also, if you have closet space it's best to hang clothes it's faster and easier than Marie kondo folding all the time. But, if you don't have a lot of closet space I think it's good to get a clothes rack that stands up in your bedroom if your bedroom has enough room for a clothes rack if not you will have to Marie kondo fold your clothes which is an awesome method and I am thankful for her teaching us how to fold and maximize space

Can you tell us about how the laundry makes it's way to the laundry room, gets sorted ahead of time, and do you have any tips for that?

Sure! My kids, husband and myself are all responsible for getting our dirty clothes to the laundry room each night (before the next day). I have two bins, I wish I had more but I don't have the space for that, where all dirty clothes go. One for darks and one for lights. Those stay sorted in that way and then delicates stay in a hamper in my closet and towels and sheets are just gathered on that designated laundry day. I hope that is helpful. Seems interesting and sounds like that would work for many. However I’m a busy gal and I do t want to be tethered to the washer and drier for 1 1/2-2 hours each day Monday through Friday. I knock it all out in four hours one day when it’s my stay home day and I’m getting g stuff done. That way the other four days I can run out and do errands and other projects I don’t want to have to stop for laundry starting, transferring to drier folding hanging etc. every day

Yes. 🙂 I'm curious, do you use the dryer for every load? Is prompted by the climate you live in? I live in Australia, and we tend to hang our wash on the clothesline, unless it's raining.

Hello from freezing Erie Pa🥶. I too do laundry every day. If I don’t, I feel overwhelmed. I have a similar system. I hang my clothes in my laundry room after drying a short time and the next day put them in the appropriate closets. Thanks for sharing your routine!

I’m single, live in a single household and don’t have a washing machine in my flat. I wash once a week, week one I do clothes (40 degrees C), and week two I wash towels, sheets and othe 60 degrees C.

I am new and yes laundry is my arch enemy.i have a washer dryer on my apt complex but for me and my family's needs it's cheaper for me to go to the laundromat. Y u mite ask well lol it is 2.00 to wash and a 1.00 to dry in my building I have 4 people in my family 8.00 to wash and 4.00 to dry if the clothes dry on a dollar usually not so at my local laundromat I pay 6.50 for a large machine and 2.00 for Whit's sheets towels socks. And 75 cents drys all my clothes yes I know I am wasting gas but I get it all done at once .. and the laundromat offers a free wash every month so sweet one wash and dry is totally free

Hi Sharon and welcome! You know what, we all just find what works for us in the season of life that we are currently in. It's not about mimicking what others are doing but maybe just finding little tidbits here and there to accentuate what we are doing. Make it work for you girl, that is all that matters. Hey friend! I was on my way to... you know where😉thinking about my laundry that I left behind and obviously will not be happening today...😞. But it was funny and handy- to watch this video! Now, my question is, if you do it every day by colors, do you have to pick up from every room every day to sort it out in order to have it all together for when it’s time to wash that specific color? Or the kids do it daily? I have one day designated for laundry and it’s not my favorite day, I should say. Specially because of my OCD situation😂, I cannot function well until everything is in its place, so it’s a day of the week that I do not love 🙄

Hi! Hahaha, well I'm here to serve. Yes, the kids bring their laundry down every morning that way I can keep track as to what all needs to be washed. Momma aint got time for that. I was totally like you in that I wanted it all done on the same day so it was all clean 'at the same time'. But, if you think about it, it's all only clean at the same time for a bout 20 mins anyway. Once a grasped that thought, I was off and running with my new plan. Have a great day and hugs to E & J.

I do all my laundry on the weekend but I have a system that I won’t put another load in the washer until the load that came out of the dryer is put away. It forces me to put laundry away and not end up with tons of clean laundry that needs folding.

Def. need help with organizing/cleaning and all that jazz. I do laundry and it tends to sit in baskets getting wrinkled...drives me batty. But I am like, well at least it's clean. Big problem is that I have chronic pain and it affects how I do things a lot of times. Trying to get past the pain and just work through it as it's even harder when things pile up.
