Works great for someone like me who has muscular dystrophy and can't manhandle a lawnmower or a manual pump very well. I got my local sandwich shop to give me an empty 1 gallon jar that their jalapenos come in but convenience stores that sell pickles also have them and are happy to keep them out of the landfill. I also am not a pop user so I got my 2 litter bottle from my neighbor's recycle bin. I skipped the hose in a hose idea and only bought the 3/8 hose. After using this setup I opened the drain on the engine (riding mower) and not a drop was left. It's the least messy of all the oil changes I've ever seen. Thanks for the help.

Instead of using the glass jar, I think you can drill holes on the cap of an old engine oil container to capture the extracted oil and after that, switch the cap for one without holes for returning the used oil for recycling at the garage shops or community recycling center.

This is a great method for changing lawn mower oil. 2 hoses are not needed however. Cut one 3/8 OD hose about 4' long. Cut the end on an angle like shown here. Run the end of the hose thru the cut bottle thru the shop Van to a plastic bottle that will sit inside. Drill another hole in the top for the end of the hose.

I really like the idea of something doing the work for me, but I think this would create more work for me. It's more stuff to store, and I'd probably get oil dripping from the hose ends. More importantly, I don't know that this would get any sediment from the bottom of the oil reservoir. ...but it would give me a good reason to go buy a bottle of sodee pop.🥤
@johnnyz77523 жыл бұрын
If it fits, put the mason jar right inside the shop vac and run the tubing through the soda pop cap and into one of the holes in the mason jar. Now, the lower air pressure inside the shop vac will draw the oil straight into the mason jar. Less tubing and better suction.
@claibst4 жыл бұрын
