A good rule is... the darker the leaves...the less light it needs. The lighter the leaves (less chlorophyll), the more light it needs.

I would like to add jade plants (also known as money plants) and spider plants to this. Young spider plants grow quicker in some sun but once they're established you can put them anywhere and they don't need frequent watering, I like to put mine high on to of cupboards, shelves etc because they dangle 😅 They also flower and produce new plants quickly and often, which you can leave on the runners until you're ready to move them to pots. Jade plants are nigh invincible and can survive a long time without water and can also grow happily anywhere. They are also very easy to propagate, you can quite literally grow an entirely new plant from a single leaf, or a stem cutting, just by placing it in soil. Or just even in water.

@heatherwoods57034 ай бұрын
So many house plants prefer bright indirect light. But full sun? Most succulents, including Jade plants. Croton. Herbs. Prayer plant. Snake plants can tolerate low light, but they thrive in sun. Those are some that I have. 😊

Philodendron is a good one (the basic ones) they don't need a ton of light as they are a vining plant and they like to crawl around Varagated varieties are more difficult since they have white pink or yellow spots/sections on the leaves they are less efficient when photosyntheizing since only the green parts are able to photosynthesize meaning they need more light. water wise it's the same as other Philodendrons water when the soil is dry or use a self watering pot that has a wick to draw up water

My manjula pothos died in lower light. It's such a beautiful plant and I want to get another one but definitely does not like low light. The Golden Pothos is a beast and you can literally put that plant anywhere and it will thrive, in my opinion.

Part 2 please. I have the moonshine (can confirm the easy care) and bought the cutlass three days ago. And just today I got a no ID Philo from a hardware store (it just said "green mix"), which I suspect is either Dean Mcdowell or gloriosum. Will wait and see when it grows up (if it survives). I really like your shorts, they are funny and to the point.

Most sansevierias thrive when in direct sunlight (a few hours daily). I have them in east and south windows (and only one out of over 85 varieties suffered a sun burn - S. 'Blue Kew' ) and much closer than the recommended 50cm distance from a grow light (I have Mother PlantSpectrum 32). The offset and next generations will adapt to the conditions and will do OK. In terms of watering, one should water them as other plants, but they need to fully dry between waterings and be in a well draining substrate. I gradually moved mine to pon (I started end August last year), and most of them are in self-watering pots now. 💚💚💚💚💚
