Love finding this channel! Excited to follow along. The extra 10-12 pounds I’ve been struggling with since I turned 50 (now 58) is tough as nails! I did keto for 1.25 years and lost the weight but I also lost my muscle and was skinny fat. It’s a bit of a mind game adding back in carbohydrates but with lifting weights, I think it’s important. Looking forward to more of your videos, and appreciate all the helps!! 🙌

Such a great video thank you! I was so surprised when you talked about dabbling in vegetarianism and "poo pooing" the Atkins diet before discovering how higher protein benefits you...that is my story in a nut shell -- I was vegan for 12 years and would gladly get on my heart disease soap box any chance I could... however my appetite became absolutely out of control i felt like I was hungry literally all the time even though I was in a calorie surplus most of the time - I was also sick and tired of being the "fit person" (long time runner) who never looked "fit" as vain as that sounds - high protein has helped me tremendously I'm finally full between meals and have muscle definition! ☺️ prepping protein for the win! Love your videos thanks!

oh my yes!! Exactly my story, except I think you conveyed it so much more eloquently! including - wanting to look fit because I did all the things a fit person does! It's good to know we're both open minded for change. :)

I tried to be a vegan because of heart issues, but it just was so depressing for me and I was hungry all the time. I gained weight as well, which is not good for my health. I tried to make sure I ate more complex carbs, but it was just an epic fail. I’m 48 yrs old , 5’4”, and over 60 pounds. Its been so hard. I have gained all this weight in the past 7 years while in perimenopausal. Im going to try and follow this way of eating.🙏🙌 Thank you for all the comments, it helps to know that people know what we go through ❤️christy from va

Great video Amy! We eat very similar too. Those glutes are gonna develop with BBB and all the protein. I aim for around 140 grams/day right now, sweet potatoes and veggies make up the rest. I shared your video with my friends. ;)

Do you precook the asparagus? And when you were prepping the eggs, what were you doing to the top of them before you put them in the steamer?
@HealthBeet

I didn't on the video, but I will either roast them with my veggies or wait till it's time to eat them and put them wrapped in a towel in the microwave for 60 seconds!

My question is how do you heat them up, In the microwave or oven ? That’s why I’ve always been intimidated meal prepping because not sure how it will taste.
@HealthBeet
@HealthBeet Жыл бұрын
How do I heat up the entire meal? In the microwave- all of it at once. Usually I dump it onto a plate, first and heat it up for 1 minute. Sometimes though, I'll leave it in the container. They are microwave safe. They taste fine to me!! I wouldn't bring it to a potluck, but eating it just myself I think they taste just as good as if I had just made everything. Especially roasting the veggies. They hold up the best as far as flavor and texture.

Do you peel all your hard boiled eggs before you store them so you won't have to do that part later?
@HealthBeet

It depends. I'll peel them if I'm taking them on a road trip, otherwise, i keep them in the shell.

I try to stay away from artificial sweeteners and sugar free items with sucralose or aspertame since I don't think they are good for me, they leave a horrible aftertaste in my mouth, and they seem to upset my stomach. I just purchased the 1200/1500 combined meal plans from you and noticed you use several of those items. Do you have a substitute list for most of those??
@HealthBeet
@HealthBeet Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for purchasing the meal plans! There should only be the protein "treats" that have artificial sweeteners, and if you're good with stevia, most things can be replaced with stevia, or just left out. I find a lot of protein powders can be sweet enough if you have a protein powder you like. But, hit me up with a specific recipe, and I can probably find a sub for you!

Hey! I lost over 10lbs last summer doing Amy’s 1200 plan and I feel the same about artificial sweeteners. I followed it exactly the first 30 days, but when I hit repeat I just left ingredients out. Like I’d eat the Greek yogurt and just not add the SF pudding mix. Or to oatmeal, I’d add cinnamon instead of SF maple syrup. Or use a liquid flavored stevia. Another hack I used was to use Caramel Candy flavoring (like LorAnn Oils). It’s very strong so you only use a few drops and it adds lots of flavoring without an artificial sugar or calories. Hope this helps!
@pamelafenster5099
@pamelafenster5099 Жыл бұрын
@@glamourandgrapes6245 Thank you so much for that advice!! That is very helpful. I may follow it like you did for the first 30 days and see if my stomach can handle that short time period and then hit repeat and take your substitute suggestions. I think that's a great idea and worth a try.
@pamelafenster5099

@@HealthBeet I'm very excited to get started. I love your meal suggestions and think they will be very easy to work with. I am good with stevia and monk fruit, although there was a bit of a "scare" with the erythritol in monk fruit that has been maybe a bit overblown. I just try to avoid all of the artificial sweeteners if possible, but I know that the high fructose corn syrup is horrible for me too, so I maybe just need to pick my "poison" so to speak lol Once I get started, if I run across a treat that I need a substitute idea for, I'll get in touch. Thank you so much for all of your videos!!!
