Melt and pour is a fun way to get started with soap making. I live on a very tight budget, so that would be pretty much a luxury. I prefer cold process because it's less expensive in the long run, and I can control the ingredients easier. I make soap about twice per year - mostly olive oil and/or coconut oil, and I make shampoo bars. This gives me enough for me and my son, plus plenty to give as gifts. Yes, the ovals are really nice! I also like flower shapes, especially for gifting, but I mostly use loaf molds and cut bars. No matter how you do it, it really is a lot of fun!

Thanks for sharing. Mom is recovering well from her surgery. She's been cooking and washing the dishes again. I still do the drying and put up the dishes most of the time. I've been doing theirs and my laundry. She and my nephew Ritchie went to the store. I'm still at the house with my niece Serenity. Lee said he'd drop off Daniel on Wednesday.

How much of the melt and pour soap do you use? I was trying to figure out what size of a brick that was, and I don't know!

Absolutely Tracy, I Use all of the soap from the pot and any flower or oat scraps go into the bin and the rest washes up with hot water, as the soap base helps to clean it out from the oils. I only use this pot for soap making though, as most pots are made of a porous metal, mine included. You can pick up pots at good will /op shops at a good price. I hope this helps.
