SALVE TUTORIAL - Make Rosemary and Rose Balm / Salves
Learn to home make herbal salves (often called a Balm ) in this east to follow tutorial.
I am using dehydrated Rose petals and fresh Rosemary from my garden but you can use what you like. Choose a complimentary pure essential oil, always research if it is suitable and safe for the users of your products.
This Salve is very refreshing and is wonderful on your lips as well as helps to keep you alert and can even help with a stuffy nose.
GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES
Heavy based saucepan
Clean storage containers with lids off
Cutting boards / table protection
Plastic jug (or heat proof jug)

Welcome to Moat Cottage Homesteading,
I'm Elissa and here at Moat Cottage, we raise and grow and process some of our own free range meat, organic vegetables and fruit.
We grow all of our herbs for both eating and medicinal purposes as well as hunt, fish and forage.
We preserve our produce for the year ahead by canning, dehydrating and freezing and we work on being prepared for emergency situations.
We don't like plastic, chemicals and artificial fragrances and are trying to live an older style life balanced with this modern world lifestyle.
Good health and natural living has always been a high priority for our family and despite this two family members are living with auto immune diseases, myself included.
We focus on what we can do, when we can do it, stay positive and so I make these videos for you on my best days.
Much Love
Elissa Jayne

Wow! Someone who actually knows better than to say “use as much essential oil as you like”. Thank you for actually teaching with sound information! Coincidentally, I literally just watched a similar type video from 3 rivers homestead snd she gave no mention to do research about essential oil usage in body products. Just “as as much as you like”. Not good. Thank you for your wonderful videos ❤️

Hi Volpe Gregori, glad it was helpful. I haven't pickled quail eggs but I would think they would be ready quicker due to their small size. If you try it, could you please let me know how it works out for you?

Can you show us what each tincture, salve, & oil is used for. I am a newbie and I want to learn what each herb is good for and what side effects if any or dangers os use there are. Do you have a book of recipes that tells us also what they are used for?

What rose were you using? I’m looking into buying lots of roses this spring especially the best edible varieties and ones with large rose-hips. So if you have any recommendations that would be great! Thank you for being so thorough! I’ve been learning all this stuff for years and a good teacher is very appreciated! Mary’s nest sent me over, I’m glad she did! She’s the best teacher ever!

Thanks for sharing. Still waiting to hear when orientation will be. Well they said it would take a week or two for the uniforms to arrive so maybe it will be around then. Spent some time with Mom and my sister recently. Also spent a little time with Lee and our son Daniel. Looking forward to getting the job so hopefully I can pay someone to finish setting up our house so we can all live together again. My cousin Brandi's husband Chris does everything except the electrical. Just need to find someone else or try to convince Lee to make the base for the electrical meter. Lee and a friend already put up the electrical pole five years ago. Then I can pay the electric company to put up the meter and have the internet company set up theirs.

@@MoatCottage Mom got over the virus but still not quite recovered from her surgery she had early last month. She returned to work yesterday. She still has difficultly lifting things over five pounds so I'm still taking out the trash and helping with the laundry.

I know this is a year old, but I love this and I have started quite a large garden. I already have some infused oils, sunflower, jojoba and olive oils with various herbs and flowers. BUT I am allergic to beeswax, it rashes me. Can you please suggest some examples I could use instead? Thank you so much!
