I know this is years after when it was posted, but I've watched a dozen videos and visited at least 10 sites. Did updates twice and still got the same message after the PS3 working for a day. Was about to resort to buying a new PS3, new hard drive, or taking it to a shop. The reset was the ONLY thing that helped! You have saved me a ton of cash and time. Thanks!

Best of the PS3 fix videos I've run across, today. The others were all poor quality video and sound, the creators kept moving the cameras around to look at stuff that didn't matter, help you through the problem or help rectify the situation. @Ateeq Ahmed dude if you are reading this in 2021 hope this helps you. I faced this problem but I got the solution. This problem occurs because some game file has been corrupted. First switch off your ps3 Then hold the on button of your ps3 for 15 seconds it will go off again. Now again hold the on button till you hear 2 continuous beeps. Now your in safemode. Click on restore file system. This will basically remove all corrupted files and data but don't worry your game saves will be safe.

Hi, I need your help on my PS3 unique issue. Problem with PS3 (FAT) Console on start-up. As usual, main power switch turned on and red light appears, but when the moment I touch on the power or the eject touch panel it just shuts down immediately turning from red light to green light (accompanied with a somewhat clicking metal sound heard from with-in the console). Tried to turn off and on the main power again, Red light appears as usual again but the moment when i touched the power or eject button it immediately shuts down again. open ps3 unplug bluray drive out of circuit then plug power cord in and press power if ps3 doesn't shutdown then it's bad bluray drive. if it still shutdown is bad ic on regulator on mother board. also check for 5v standby from power board.

evan clean your lens or chang blueray driver for new or second hand one make sure its same model then change the board from origanal bluray to the new one your puting in ie the board under blueray as its regesterd to your ps3 also change psu could be A diod or capaseter in psu power supply unit also update it

Hello hey out of all the videos out there, yours is the best, clearest and simplest. I've got a fat ps3 I know it's old but my sons just started playing ps3 and once he's a bit older will get him ps4 it's just that's just a bit too advanced for him.anyway with the ps3 when switching it on,on the screen it says storage cannot read?now I've seen other videos and it shows you pull out hard drive to clear dust and stuff.but it still doesn't do nothing,can I get a new hard drive?hopefully you know what I'm on about I know nothing about play stations or technology please any advice would be awesome.thanks

Thanks, not reading storage error, Troubleshoot steps are to restart, if that doesn't work then reset by unplugging power for 1 minute, next try clear out dust inside and reseat hard drive, next unfortunately may need to initialize system to clear hard drive corruption or replace with new hard drive.

Great TampaTec, the soft reset worked for me. I unplugged it for 20 seconds and then plugged back in and switched on, held On/Off button down until it turned red and then switched back on and all is good. Now I find myself having to do this as often as 9 times out of 10 when switching on to get it running, is that normal or is my unit about to go belly up. !!!

Its absolutely ridiculous that Sony did NOT make the PS3 as durable as it should. I bought a used PS3 and a large amount of games, and the PS3 freezes while I boot up half of my games. So I bought another PS3 (different model) and that one does the same thing! I'm seriously irritated, seems like bad hardware... but at least I know how to reset it correctly without corrupting the data, thanks for the video.
