Thanks so much; I was able to fix my 50 inch Samsung TV last night with the help of your video. I cost me about $6.00 for the parts. The capacitors that I replaced were not bulging---they all seem to look like someone used a black marker on top of them. I replaced six capacitors of different ratings and after reassembling my TV and hitting the power button, my television has new life. Again, thanks for posting an excellent repair video.

Great video. I would like to say to anyone who doesn't know how to solder and doesn't want to learn how, you can usually replace the entire power supply board for around 30-75 bucks depending on the model. It's an easy DIY job and costs far less than a repair shop. Just watch out for those capacitors. Make sure to discharge them before you take the back off of the tv.

I have a 55" Samsung LCD I bought in 2009. In 2013, had power but would not show picture and was making a clicking noise. I just watched this video last week. There were 5 resisters that were not flat on the top. So I purchased a new power board from shop Jimmy's With shipping it was $74.20. Fixed it in less than 30 minutes. The tv was sitting in a box since 2013 when the problem happened Because you are "THE MAN". I am now using my 55" again. Kudos to you.

What would have been a $300+ fix turned into something around $20!

That was awesome. Best Buy tried ripping my senior citizen uncle off, they plugged in the Haier 32 inch, tried to turn it on and said his board is blown and he should just buy a new tv, mind you no other tests were done outside of plugging it in.. this tv is 4 years old. He spent 300.00 on another tv. I kinda went ape shit on the Geek Squad and got his tv back. They didnt want to give it up because it was logged in to be "recycled". I convinced them after my italian voice started to reach louder than the rest of the store. I will take it apart tomorrow and check your tips. Thanks for posting this, My uncle and I bought the tv for my dad in 2010, he passed away a short time after, so it would be cool if im able to fix it. My kids want "Grandpa's tv" in their room "cuz it still smells like him". Thanks again.

Hi Tampa, I have here a Samsung UE32D6200TS LED TV. Menu and screen comes up but TV makes clicking (relais?) noise. Caps on the powerboard all look fine and since its from 2012, it is unlikely to be affected by the old Taiwan capacitor plague of the early 2000s. No visible damage outside or inside. Click, click, click, click …. What else could it be?

Tampatec Great videos. I've got a SEIKI 50" LED TV. When I bought it from Fred Meyers, it was a display model. It now goes blank after it comes on after about 20 minutes. l did the flashlight test and I can see the screen. Since this TV is not that old, I'm not sure that the LEDs are shorted. I only paid $147 so I didn't get taken. There's a PC board for power and one for probably driver. I've already remove the back cover. I sure would like some advice

You usually don’t even get a hint at what you should be doing, what is wrong, what is right, in this scenario he knows the problem, the solution is easy, so it’s easy, imagine instead having no sign of life, then you would have to check literally anything to see if there’s a problem

Why are caps in so many electronic devices defective nowadays? Why can't the manufacturers produce reliable capacitors - what's the problem? I know a few TV manufacturers have sued capacitor makers for giving them defective caps but this problem also effects many other products - including computer motherboards. It's really getting out of hand. You're almost guaranteed that any electronic device you buy today will have bad caps after a few years of use. Meanwhile, I can power up a 60 year old tube amp, or even a receiver from the 70's and it works without issues. You would think technology would advance and produce more reliable components, not the other way around.

Hi Tampa, thanks for all your videos. very helpful. I love to repair my Samsung 50" Plasma. It has red light but switch on go off immediately. I think it is the power supply board. I would prefer to change the whole board instead of replacing the components. Where should i get the replacement board?

Thank you for info on repair. The flats screen tv I repaired for a engineer was also two caps. seams like a big problem with the them.

Wow man you are awesome for answering all my questions. I know the exact point that touched and a spark appeared next to a cap on the corner of the board. Is it safe to conclude that components directly next to the spark have the biggest possibility of being blown. I priced a board at $55 with a 90 day warranty. As a EE student just having fun playing with this stuff, thanks man.
