If deselect the clip first then alt-drag the video track, you'll create a copy of the video track that isn't linked to the audio track. :)

You don't have to lock the track! You are adding an extra step by trying to mouse onto a tiny button. Just opt/alt click the video layer and drag it up. Exact same end result. (Opt/alt + click already bypasses the linked selection and chooses only either the video or audio. Then opt/alt drag acts as a duplication.)

Also, can you please do a glowing animation tutorial in AE?? I’ve watched a few videos that were mediocre at best and I really like you’re way of showing people what needs to be done in order to get that end result.

Hey Matt! If you have your clips on the timeline deselected, you can press alt and click on the video that you want to duplicate. This way it will allow you to select the video separately from the audio track of the same clip. That might be a little more efficient than locking the audio track. Let me know if that works for you ✌🏽

Hey EM, good stuff. Thanks for the tutorial. If you're still feeling a tutorial kind of mood...would you be able to go deeper into animating with keyframes in PR/AE? I've watched countless videos on it but your animation always just seems smoother and cleaner than any of the "Here's what a keyframe is and here's how to use it" tutorials out there. Thanks in advance. GG.

Good video. So maybe another example tut would be how to "spot" out dust bunnies on sensors - OR - you can fake it by getting rid of that annoying dark dot on the wall just to the screen left of your face ! lol - if you can't pull that off, lemme know and I'll send you $20 for a can of paint. :)

People here will know, because it confuses me a lot! Why use Premiere? I have been working in After Effects, and the keyframing and effects structure makes sense to me. It confuses me in Premiere. What does Premiere offer that Ae doesn't? Is it some software structure that makes it easier on my CPU? Because as a tool alone I don't see the benefits of Premiere over After Effects. I can see how a pro like Matthew can incoorperate them, but can't a noob like me just work in Ae?
@matthewpaquette
@matthewpaquette 3 жыл бұрын
When I started out as a kid I’d edit whole videos in after effects. You can do it but it’s really not designed for it. Mainly the way AE caches frames would be a nightmare for a large project. Premiere has all the tools designed for big projects and responsive playback. You’ll just find yourself coming up with a lot of work arounds you edit in after effects where premiere would just be a click or a setting

It's the same idea as the print side of things. You CAN build a whole brochure or catalog in Photoshop or Illustrator. But InDesign is really the "layout" program you should build in with the support of Illustrator and Photoshop. Print -> Video = InDesign -> Premiere.
