This is the easiest way to add shelving to a closet or pantry. It’s simple to modify and you can make the shelves deeper. You can also add front support for heavier loads.

The first half of the kzfaq.infoUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.

I just used your closet/pantry design and made an amazing pantry. I used two 2x10s for the back shelves and 2x12 lumber for the side shelves. I even used the same cabinet screws. I also tied in the corner of the side shelves to the back shelves w the angled screw idea. Wife loves the pantry. Thank you again. Bad Lou Manchester, Vermont

Thank you so much! I pulled down the old wire shelves and these new wood shelves made a world of difference. The used the 2 1/2 cabinet screws for both the mounts and attaching the shelves. They made a big difference. I should have be more mindful of picking up straighter boards from Home Depot, but all in all, an amazing transformation.

Great idea. Just what I needed. I love Alaska, been there three times. Thanks. You could also put two screws in each stud to give it just a little more weight bearing. Great idea using the 12 inch shelf board, it holds more weight than particle board and particle board tends to bend more. Recommend sanding boards before installing them.

I screenshot a few bits of this as I've a space to become a larder, I know what I want, it's not always easy to explain to someone else. I've only got 2 sides to do at present, as this is exactly my vision, I will show this to the Joiner. Once all the clutter is out I can get a larger freezer on one side and shelving on the other. My kitchen is 6'x14' the larder is to the left going inyo the kitchen. I can't afford 'barn' doors, but hope Joiner will adapt off the shelf doors to suit. Part of the larder was a useless place below the stairs. A wall built in middle of space houses my washing machine and tumble dryer. If the Joiner who did that had listened, I wouldn't now have to pay more money to push appliances back to the wall with a couple of shelves above. The ladder I will need to reach these will slot alongside the machines. Being 4'10" I definitely need a ladder or safe step. So thank you for showing my vision exactly so I can have my Larder done as I want, not as they think it should be. I'm only a woman grrrr they don't listen. They will this time as I've a very tight budget as money has been wasted in the past when I have not been listened to, I sold jewellery to pay for it and the work left undone by a Builder who was paid up front, there was a reason behind that, but he let me down badly. It will be done, properly or else Ana, you'll get an invite to Northern Ireland to stay with me and show them how it's done. Unfortunately during the debacle I was going through difficult divorce, unhappy children, health issues, working 12+ hrs a day. Two more diagnosed, one only last Thursday, which are really lousy. Hey, it could be much worse, if I can't clean floors etc, I take my glasses off! As long as I'm clean, food prep and fridge are clean, fresh bed. I will continue. I've 4 sons, not the most helpful, no point worrying, I've got to try to get healthier. No cure, but 3 ops can help bits of me. So if you get an international number come up on your phone, answer 😉

This is amazing! I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment but I’m hoping you do because I need your advice! I am woodworking for the first time and building a pantry in a 3x4 space…I’m having the shelves on the right and back wall and leaving the left wall open. The problem is there is no space on the side of the door to support the shelves at the farthest end on the right wall (like in the spot where you added the small supports..hope that makes sense). It’s just the door frame, a couple inches, and then meets the right wall. How can I make sure that shelf is supported on the end? Would you recommend metal L bracket supports?
