Using the same clay to get even reduction is a really helpful tip. Your floral combination canes are exquisite which is why I'm watching this tutorial so I can make the components and have a go. Thank you for sharing Colleen

I’m glad you’re going to give the floral combo a go! I learned the hard way that using a soft clay and a firmer one in the same cane can have disastrous results. The Timon can I did finished well, but when I reduced it, the whole was a firm clay and the rest soft so the end result was he had REALLY big eyes and teeth and his actual fur color was pretty non-existent 😟.

@@ArtworkByColleen I try to think of my mistakes as a lesson learned rather than a disaster because you always have clay left for something else, even if it is only as filler. I'm having a great time learning as I go.

The thing is with sculpt 111 is u have to mix it with another clay or else use it over a form bc it will be brittle

@@sharonkeef0522 The issue I’m having currently is that there is such a small selection because I live right by Hobby lobby and they’re out of practically everything all the time I do try to mix most of them with a stronger clay but sometimes that isn’t too much of an option

Thanks so much for this great tutorial!! Made my first rose cane today. A couple of minor errors. But overall I was quite happy with it. Only my 2nd cane ever. BTW re the dreaded Sculpey III, since I was also stuck with a bunch and I've been leaching it. I find it really helps.

Adding that darker blue to the outside makes a big difference. Yes taking the time to measure does interrupt my creative flow, don't want to get to side tracked.good explanation for my way of thinking. Thank you!

I watched this video for the second time. Thank you very much for the subtitles. Since I don't know what country you live in, I don't know what time of day you are, and I don't know how to bid you farewell. Therefore, in accordance with the night hours we live in Turkey, I wish you a good night and say goodbye. 😘🙏🌹🌼🌺😘

Awesome tutorial, but fyi you worked out of frame for a majority of the tutorial. I would adjust your camera for next time.
