This shed was super easy to build for a chicken coop and even though it hasn't been up very long it has already withstood a snow storm and wind gusts up to 30 mph the other night. The best part is the birds love it!

Zeb just flip the ladder around. Put the wide part to the top. You will have more room to get a round and the chickens will have more room to roost on top of the wider part of the ladder.👍

That shed/coop really works well. The orchard ladder is brilliant and the nest boxes will be easy to clean. All in all, I give it an 11 out of 10!

Chicken hearding!! So cute watching Jack's excitement! My moms best friend had lots of chickens when we were little & I remember chasing them in the yard to "help" but now I'm wondering were the adults just keeping us busy? 😂

Thumbs up on the improvised chicken roost. Looks like it'll be nice and toasty for them. Keeps them out of the weather it keeps them away from critters that may want to prey on them. I'm in the city and a couple of weeks ago, we had coyotes outback. Weird.

I’ve seen coyotes in the middle of Phoenix when I was a kid. They’re really adaptive and eat just about anything

@@jamiandzeb wow, I just assumed since I live in the south suburbs of Dayton Ohio I would never see a coyote. I've had owls, red-tail hawks and even eagles. But coyotes? Supposably they're not even native to this area. We have foxes and wolves that are native to Ohio, but not coyotes. But the papers have told people to keep their small animals inside because of all the sightings we've had this year.

@@sallyhutton6276 Yes, I believe it, but I live in town. Do you? Or do you live in the country. And like I said, coyotes are not in digenous to this area. So, you live close by me, and you have coyote sightings. And you watch Jami and Zeb. Well hello neighbor!

After seeing a couple of videos of people using these for a coop, I think this summer my coop is coming down and getting replaced by one of these Poly Sheds. They look like they would be the "cats meow"!

Look how big Jack has gotten !!! Using tools and building … nice work ( GOOD TEACHING DAD 👍) No one WANTED that Orchard Ladder 😳😳😳😳… of course it would have cost a fortune to ship to NYS….LOL! I love those ladders. Pretty chickens. Who does the sheering of the sheep? I use to hate that time of year. Always felt like we were hurting them….but they simply didn’t like to be held still. Fun, fun video ! Thanks for sharing 🐑🐑🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐓🐂

Yeah the orchard ladder is super cool. We have another one in the shop but you’re right, shipping that beast wouldn’t be worth it. Right now we hire someone to sheer. It’s $20 per sheep since we only have 2 but worth it lol.

How do you like the coop still after almost a year? Anything you’ve changed or would have done differently? I’m looking at using the same shed to build my coop.
@jamiandzeb

It’s good. Jami doesn’t like the way it looks so it may become a garden shed and I’ll build a new coop but it’s been very functional and kept them warm and dry

I've opted to go with a lifetime 8x5 shed not modern looking. Looks better to me and I have more room to play around with. I think the shed you got works but it's not my favorite look/shape either. Thanks for the response!@@jamiandzeb

Seems crowded and with chickens out of space and resorting to sitting on the sides of the nesting boxes, I'm guessing you're getting a nice layer of POOP in that top nesting box, yeah? I was considering this shed but after seeing this video I'm thinking its a bit too small? (I have 15 chickens). This video is a year old; are you still happy with it or have you opted for something bigger?
@jamiandzeb
@jamiandzeb 3 ай бұрын
We’ve got 22 birds and they’ve been great in there. and the top box does get poop but they only lay in the bottom one. Since it’s all plastic it hoses out real easy and it’s really simple to scoop out the bottom and replace the hay with both doors open.

Why would you put chickens house on a concrete slab??? They love to peck and forage? Concrete is not the best bedding for them. Oh well each to their own. Hope it works out for you.

there's lots of hay in the bottom and they have access to a large 1000 square foot run
