When I added my MSG100 I sent a picture of the opened garage opener unit to the meross support team and they highlighted on the picture where to connect. 10/10. In use for about 3 years now.

Shelly all the way… Shelly Plus 2PM ideal and has a cloud channel for backup if you can’t hit HA remotely. Brilliant bit of kit and works on 24v for gates etc.

Do you combine it with a door sensor so as you know whether it’s open or closed?

Yeah, any smart momentary relay would work in combination with a contact sensor and some clever Home Assistant templatery would work nicely... but the advantage of this solution is it all works out of the box and is an easy solution for beginners.

I remember all the fuss about the main American garage door opener that removed remote API access to their product. At the time I thought that for most UK home owners such a device was really unnecessary. We have an electric door opener on our garage, I’ve a button by the front door and a spare remote in my car and TBH that’s all I need. Like most UK garages its so full of stuff there’s no way I’d get a car in it so smart operations like the door opening as I drive up to it are just not needed. Sorry to be negative but interested to hear what the use cases really are

Understandable and reasonable question! So firstly, I've made it smart because I can :) But as for real world uses I have two examples. The first example is simply and easy way for me to open the garage door while I'm walking down the road when the kids were a bit younger so as they could put their bikes away... saving me precious seconds! The second example and probably the most useful is that I've been able to remotely open the garage to let delivery drivers drop parcels in there when I'm not home. They ring the Ring doorbell, I ask them to put it in the garage, I open it, watch them delivery it and leave, and then I make sure it's closed behind them. That scenario is a lot more common than you might think!

@@SpeakToTheGeekTech Yep, that second scenario makes sense. We live down a small driveway off the main road with just us and next door down it, so the delivery drivers leave things on our porch where its safe enough, but I can see the benefit you describe

Video Editing is too low 👎👎👎👎 Edit the video in a good style. Add nice b-roll animation when you are speaking or explaining something. This will increase visualization. Put proper subtitles, effects, transitions, and colors in the video. Insert the B-Roll (footage and animation) very well because it is absolutely low in your video. Do all this and then see how the video doesn't turn out good. 🥕
