Good morning, Adelina and Sophie! Great tips, thank you! This has made me even more interested in Tru- Earth. To save them going to recycling immediately, I cut up my old t-shirts and use them as dishcloths and cleaning rags. I also cut up old, fraying facecloths and use them as make up remover and eye- refresher pads, eliminating the need for cotton wool pads. I recently discovered there is a reusable tampon applicator, which was a revelation to me! Even if I only use it for ten years, it's made a difference, plus they recycle your old one when it needs replacing! Win-win! Have a lovely day! x

I switched to cloth menstrual pads because I only have to buy them once. I bought 10 of them for $30aud. The price for a pack of disposables was about $6 and would last 1 cycle. After 5 cycles using cloth, I made my money back on them and now I save more because I don’t have to buy pads anymore. I make furniture out of old lumber that would otherwise be thrown out. I keep the same electronics (phone, laptop, iPad) for years. I mostly shop second hand. I like to live frugal, at this point it’s a game. Friend of mine always says things like, “I can’t believe you’d stoop so low to save money.” And I respond, “that’s why I own a house and you still live with your mother.” * surprised pikachu face *

Kafen. Wonderful. A lot of us do many of these things too, and it's nice to hear others do too. 🌷...and I love your comment to your friend. Lol. 💚 (We get negative comments too about our frugality, though we're now retiring at 48 and 56. It took some sacrifice, but it also doesn't mean you don't enjoy life or know your priorities, eh?) Best wishes to you! Stay healthy and safe. 🌷🌷🌷

I use the glass containers with the snap lids and use them in the freezer and fridge I dont then need the zip.lock bags . I use them to store leftovers and I can just pop then in the oven to heat up saves washing up . While I have lived a very low waste lifestyle for many decades now - I always enjoy learning what others do as well! One thing I noticed that you didn’t mention was a reusable water bottle, which I am sure you use, to cut out the single use plastic bottle (the bane of my existence along with the plastic bag = I would ban both if I could!!!) Ahhh, the highlight to each Sunday! Great advice to cut down on waste. Wish we had a "Bulk Barn" here, however, I believe we have a grocery co-op that sells some bulk items. Sounds easy enough to make these small changes, and what an impact it can make for the environment. And I'm sure its makes one feel good about these habits also, a win-win! Like your heart sweater, and Sofie is such a ham for the camera, she is adorable! Thanks Adelina!

Last year I focused on reducing plastics in my home. I started using soap berries (nuts) for laundry and now for doing kitchen dishes. After 4 or 5 reuses, they get composted. They cost $40 for 1kg from Amazon and will last a year. I've switched to using only bars of soap for hands, shampoo & conditioner, and kitchen dishes. I'm glad to make the switch. No more big bottles of advertised brands in my home. Thank you for sharing.

Tru Earth - Thanks to you I discovered this company and LOVE LOVE LOVE the laundry sheets. I've ordered a year supply and so has one of my friends. Another friend will be placing her order soon. They did just announce that they now have all purpose disinfecting cleaner sheets that dissolve in water. I ordered 4 glass spray bottles from Amazon (because I couldn't find any locally) and those arrived late last week. I'll be placing my disinfecting cleaner sheet order very soon - am waiting for my friend to place her laundry order and I'll add on to that so we can cut down on the delivery truck coming with two boxes. This is my favorite newly discovered product of the past 5 years for sure. It's truly great! I expect the disinfecting cleaning strips will be equally as excellent. Thanks for another great video! Some other ideas: I make my own beeswax wraps. Also, I now make my own sour cream and yogurt, but inevitably I do end up buying a few things that come in containers and I use those for leftovers (even though I prefer glass.) to get extra use of them. Also, I clean out all peanut butter jars, ketchup bottles, old spice jars, etc. I use the smaller empty spice jars to give my friends samples of things like homemade deodorant. I use an old ketchup bottle in my camper and put pancake powder in it, then just add egg and milk when camping, shake it up and squirt out pancake batter into the pan. I do end up getting an abundance of old containers and eventually end up cleaning them out and giving them to the art department at school to use for paint containers and so on. I figure at least they get several uses before they end up in the landfill, but I do believe it's important to try to make more products from scratch (like yogurt and sour cream and peanut butter) so that I can avoid the extra plastic. I now make my own peanut butter by dumping a jar of dry roasted peanuts into my Ninja blender and blending on high until the oils run and the peanuts turn into creamy peanut butter. It takes quite a long time of blending, so I do it for a couple minutes, then turn it off, then after a few minutes turn it back on and so on until I have penaut butter. I often add honey to it as a sweetener or maple syrup, but it's without white sugar for sure.

Great video. Love the red sweater and mug. This is a wonderful topic. I make my own laundry powder, but would like to try those strips. Take up so little space too. Funny how all the containers we are using now are glass. I remember my grandmother always used glass for everything and of course she had canning jars too. I just bought some and they are expensive, but I think they’ll be a great alternative.

One thing I started doing is cleaning the big bags my 3 lbs of walnut come in from Sam’s, the unsweetened coconut sacks, shredded cheese, dried cherries sacks etc. The are all sturdy bags that I now store leftovers and other things in. If it is something messy I don’t feel bad about throwing them away. I don’t know what took so long to think of this. I never buy plastic bags anymore.

All intact plastic bags that come into our house are reused. Some of them are reused dozens and dozens of times. About 6 years ago we bought some ziploc plastic bags, and it is a lifetime supply, we are still using the first few out of the box. We also wash, sanitize and reuse milk bags, they are great, high quality food grade. We use them for the freezer and everything else. Since we have been in pandemic isolation for a year now, we do not go into grocery stores, or any stores. When we order groceries for pickup, they are in plastic bags, no choice. We wash and reuse these grocery bags.

I’ve never heard of the laundry strips! I’ll check them out to make sure there is no polyester in them because if so, that is far worse than buying large plastic jugs. Thanks for the tip on silicone bags and getting the larger size. Love the silicone lids for large dishes. I love my stainless steels straws with silicone tips. I also have a travel ‘Final Straw’ fold up straw which I love. I have used muslin produce bags for 30 years and they work great. I’ve also used my own travel utensils and grocery bags for over 30 years. This is nothing new ... it’s just become more popular with social media ... which is FABULOUS! Thank you!

I have a folding straw in my purse. It has it's own holder so it stays clean and takes almost no space. I was concerned that the silicone divider (bendy joint) has held up well. We love the laundry strips for travel. We use them at home, too, but my husband camps and sometimes needs to do an unexpected load of laundry. He's very sensitive to scent and being able to easily bring unscented laundry strips with him is so useful. They take up no space. I also like using them on hand wash items. They rinse out faster and don't leave a film on my clothes.

Hi, another really useful video, thanks. Most of your tips I have been doing for awhile now but am going to start using the Tru Earth laundry detergent. Good information. If your silicone lids are the same as mine the large one fits over your Instant Pot insert which comes in handy when I am bulk cooking to freeze, I can let stew, soups etc... cool overnight in the fridge without dirtying more bowls. Our recycle centre has stopped taking glass so I am saving all of the jars to reuse, hopefully someone can use them as I have way more than I need. Give Sophie a head rub from me.🐈 BTW I always keep 6 bags in my purse, time to start using a smaller purse.. 😂

I just ordered the straws and eco friendly detergent. Am particularly interested in the easy to use detergent. I’m lazy. I live in Sacramento CA and Costco has the glass containers at a great price. Love the fact they don’t stain or smell. Thank you for taking the time to share yourself with your fans.🤗

Loved the video. I will definitely check out the items I don't use. Questions ... what do you put your used kitty litter in? And where did you get your great loveseat? It is exactly the size and color I have been searching for.

Thank you, Adelina! I started using the walnut kitty litter that you use and I love it ( so does my cat! lol) I was using the blue crystals, and although I liked it, I knew it was so bad fo r the earth. I love all you tips and you videos encouraging others to live a more intentional life. Sophie was so cute sitting next to you during your video, my kitty is doing the same while I watched!

I use plastic store bags, doubled, when I clean the litter box. I have 2 cats and clean their box daily but there’s always a lot to scoop. What do you use instead? I’ve watched all your videos but didn’t pay attention to what you used. 😽

I use compostable bags and it goes into my green bin. In Calgary you can put pet waste into the compost bins.

I have these straws by manna & I love them! I also like glass ones but I'm always afraid I'm going to crack them😂 so I highly recommend the manna ones with the little holder & brush! Our bag charge is about 20p per bag but I've got reusable bags but I sometimes forget to take them. I was going to ask if you had tried the bees wax wraps instead of cling film but as a vegan you might not like that? I do know some vegans that still eat honey so I don't know lol my sister & her partner are beekeepers x

Hi Hazel. I’m a little afraid of the glass ones too 😜. No, I don’t use the beeswax wraps or honey 😊.
