In this video tutorial I will teach you how you can turn any pull over sweater, sweat shirt or t-shirt into a cardigan or lightweight jacket. This is a great way to upcycle your clothing or your husbands sweaters. This is great for when you find a sweater you like but may be just a little too snug. Easy to follow directions. Only simple straight stitch and a buttonhole are used. Simple and inexpensive solution for growing kids too.

I'm going to try this using a wide ribbon instead of fabric. It should be decorative and save having to hem an edge.

I know this is an old video, but it's so helpful! My MIL needs "adaptive" clothing, but she will only wear certain colors and textures. Thanks to your video, I feel much more confident about converting some warm fleece pullovers to cardigans she will actually wear. Thank you!

Try placing a piece of cardboard between the front and back before cutting (keeps fabric from stretching)

Wow I love this idea...I was just thinking yesterday about turning my t-shirts into button downs =). I get tired of pulling them over my head! This is something to do next in the future =)

Muchas gracias para eso video. Recuerdo cuando estas eran muy populares. Yo tengo camisetas y sudaderas que no puedo llevar, porque tengo cáncer de mama. Pero, quiero llevarlas y quise aprender como convertir mis sudaderas a un sueter con botones. Lo siento si mi español es pobre, pero no lo uso mucho.

I've made this before only i used a zipper and heart shaped pockets on the outside and a smaller pocket on the inside. Would have liked to see u model yours.

I did something similar, but the T-shirt immediately started curling at the cut edge--it was really hard to work with. I don't know what you did differently that yours didn't roll right up. I thought if I were going to do this again, I would stitch a wider strip w/ two parallel seams before I cut down the middle.

It was a brand-new shirt; I may have stretched it in trying to get it flat so I could draw a straight line. But the interfacing is a nice approach.
