Not exactly a trick as availability is also a factor and it may not give us the hotel in the location we want. I always sort by lowest price.

Good advice and also contact the Hotel directly and because they don't have to pay booking site fees you can sometimes get even better prices and specials that are not posted.

Would it perhaps be better to go to a hostel's page and hear for ourselves whether it deals with any possible pre-loaded card? Is the hotel owner reliable in dealing with Booking and is in constant contact with him? He monitors and knows the details of the next and next reservation?
