I have a matching “holy grail” 01’ Sport/ Laramie truck but in silver with 120k miles that I bought for $5,000 bout 1.5 years ago. Perfect interior and dash, no 5th wheel ever, clean body/cab/doors but has wheel well rot on bed. Has the 241 DHD, disk brake rear and auto trans that’s going to get rebuilt….can’t wait to get her back on the road.

I have 8 of those centre console cup holder things every time I go to a u-pull I grab those and pedals and shift levers

To solve your manual trans cupholder challenge maybe do what I did...not sure if it would work on a NV5600, but when I auto-to-G56 swapped my 98.5 Cummins 2wd last year I modded my shift lever and kept the dropdown cupholder. When I bought a new 2001 Cummins I hated the floor cupholders! It shifts great with the "whiplash" shift lever and I've driven from the NW to Wisconsin and back, and to New Mexico this week, no problems at all. I will email you some pics! By the way, back in the late 90s and early 2000s when us guys were on the Cummins forums, most everyone who ordered these trucks new spec'd the HD transfer case. The standard ones were mostly the result of dealer lot orders.

I put a G56 in my 03 a few years ago. Wasn't an upgrade as much a necessity. My NV5600 was going through input shaft bearings and I was able to get the swap cheaper than having the old trans rebuilt. I didn't have money at the time for a clutch so I used the one that was with it. I just replaced it this weekend. So far I'm pleased with the G56. Pulled my 5th wheel with it and no issues. I had the read drive shaft and changed the U-joints. Bought the front drive shaft at O'Reilly.

Been watching your videos for about 4 years now, love the content and it’s given me ideas for my trucks past and present. Been contemplating if It would be worth it to g56 swap my 99 3500, it was a factory nv4500 so I’m assuming the swap would be pretty straightforward

A 98 12v and a loaded 01 sport.... such a tasty combo....

The auto shifter is pretty easy to pull out had done in a Durango manual swap and used Dakota v8 manual ECM no codes at all, now is all factory just need a 97-00 Dakota manual gauge cluster, value has 110% doubled traded it for a powerstroke then got durango back as the front hub broke and guy had no more interest, solid axle swap time with some 2nd gen axles now 😆 Dakota/Durango sure fit the 2nd gen axles perfectly the frames widths are exact!

im putting a nv5600 in my 98 12v i picked up, nothing better then manual swapping them, i put a 5600 in my first gen, best upgrade possible i think

Couldn't you cycle the key on/off/on and get the codes in the odometer? Trans could have a code with simple fix.

To bad Cummins couldnt build the rest of the truck around the motor cause I don't know about your guys , my 2nd gen is one of the most cheaply built vehicles Ive owned . but still love it

Fact of the matter is Sam, the price you paid isn't really any of our business. And probably not even the asking price. The only real thing that we need to know, is when is the next vid coming. No, honestly, some of us could be on t he edge of our seats. Come on! A double swap? Now yer just playing with us. And the G56 into the '04 is probably a really good thing. The '01 gonna get the engine brake too? Would it help iffin you painted a number on the door, kinda like the General? You know, The '04, the '01, isn't there an '06, the '98, the '98 and that other '98? Honestly, waiting on these two swaps to begin.............
