Everything I say in this video does not and should not be taken as financial advise, I am not a financial advisor. My TFSA will continue to change and I will post about those changes on my Financialchats_Tisa Instagram page.
It has been a year since I moved my TFSA to EasyEquities and I couldn't be happier, DIY investing works for me and I believe it can work for anyone willing to put in a little bit of time to understand how it all works, I promise you it is not at all difficult.
In this video, I update you all on how it went with my 2020 EasyEquities TFSA and how the 2021 TFSA started, I bought some new ETFs and sold for the first time. You know I like for you to always get practical useful guidance so I screen recorded the process for you, take you time to listen to what I'm saying and watch what I am doing, let me know in the comments below what you don't understand, questions you might have and anything else you would like to comment on that might be useful to me and others.

A South African following you from Chile. Thank you very much for your videos. It has inspired me to invest in the JSE. As black people, we have the political kingdom now for the economic kingdom through smart investments. Just a note. Our tax year runs from 1 April to 31 March the next year ie 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022. Another note. You can invest more than R36000 but that portion is taxable by 40%. Keep up the good work. I hope all is well in Chile ☀️ We have been able to invest R36 000 in a TFSA for two Tax years now, you can check the SARS website, if you exceed the R36K you will be penelised on the excess amount. Updates and announcements on when exactly the new Tax year will begin can also be found on the SARS website. Thank you for your comment.

Yes you can make a once off R36K deposit, that’s what I usually do, or do it in bits. I probably would have made less if I let the bank manage it for me, but who knows maybe their ETF choices would have performed better than mine 🤷🏾‍♀️

Hey, Tisa. I think you forgot to mention that you can contribute more, however you'll have to pay tax (~40%) which doesn't seem worth it if you can save the money elsewhere and not get taxed for it.

Or because you sold them but didn't withdraw the money it doesn't matter? I hope I'm making sense Just realized I asked the questions too early because mentioned it towards the end of the video😁

It means that the market is closed and your order will only be processed as a buy order for them the market opens. You can place your order or wait either or it’s okay. ☀️

They only calculate tax based on how much you put in the tfsa so you can put in 36000 and it won't be taxed. However much it grows doesn't get taxed so if it becomes a million you won't get taxed on that

Another note: you can also buy ETFs for your children, parents etc although you limited to R36000 per financial year.

Yes you can, on their TFSA account that you have opened in their name, and yes the same limits will apply for them per Tax year, there's a contribution limit for parents to all their children's TFSAs combined if it's more than one child, I think it's 100 000 (this can be verified on the SARS website).

Did you create your easy equity profile/account before or after you moved to China? I noticed in another video I researched that they mentioned you would need to add your tax number so I was wondering if you had to input your China tax number or your South African Tax number?

Hi Sbusiso, I started my EasyEquities TFSA while in China, the application form asks where you are a resident and where you are a citizen if I remember correctly and also asks about Tax residence, I checked the box that asked “Are you registered or Tax purpose” then filled in all other information, you can add both China and South African if you pay tax in both countries. @@chatwithtisa when a price for an equity or EFT goes down, that's the dip. It's usually a good time to buy, because you're buying it for less. Similar to a sale of 10% off.
