It's refreshing to see a black lady wanting a family and actually advocating for it. As weird as this sounds, this is becoming rare, most women want to be independent of men. I wish more black women would choose families over work. Like she said "catch flights, and feelings". All the best to you and yours!

I wanted to be independent, not independent of men, I wanted to be financial independence, I grew up watching many women in my family struggle to raise their children alone after the men chose to just not be part of their children’s lives, my young mind started thinking that having children is a total inconvenience and sets one back in life, I made sure to not get pregnant, finish school, work and save money. Later, when I moved to China and lived alone, I started questioning my beliefs, which were not entirely wrong. After feeling more comfortable financially, I started becoming more open to the idea of having children. After all, the men that I saw leaving the women in my family stranded with kids, were good guys that the family welcomed, their consistent actions when a child was in the picture would shock me. So, any happy, stable relationship I was in was not enough to make me feel I could start a family, I needed to feel secure in myself financially first. So, my wish is for more black men to step up and be there for their women and children, and I have met black men like that. Thank you for your comment and well wishes 😊

Shoo we went through a lot, the group that stayed in China for so long, isolated and trying to make it, I could never explain to anyone what that felt like, you would need to have been there to know. Just dropping by to say thank you for your authenticity. I don’t know you personally but I am so proud of you. You embody the spirit, strength and resilience of so many inspirational women I know. Life is ebb and flow, but something tells me you’ll be okay in all it’s ups and downs because of the essence inside of you. Ps: I just came from seeing a post by a friend of mine who I had a conversation with a few years ago- she was anxious about her age and worried that she’d never fulfill her deepest wish - become a mother and have her own nuclear family. Fast forward to a few years later, her daughter just turned 1 and she’s with a man that loves and respects her. This long winded ps is to say I think your desire is valid and I sincerely hope I’ll be around these KZfaq streets to see the day you make a video confirming this. But even if that day never comes, I wish you peace and contentment in your personal life - where it matters most.
