Lesson 23: Raga Bhupali Jod and Jhala on Flute/ Banshi/ Bansuri

Discussion on Raga Bhupali continues. This lesson is on Jod and Jhala. This is a very beautiful part of any Raga. We are sure that students will enjoy this lesson.
Raga Bhupali/Bhoopali/Bhopali is a pentatonic scale (uses 5 notes in ascending and descending scale). Most of the songs in this raga are based on Bhakti rasa. Since it uses 5 notes, belongs to the "Audav jaati" of ragas.
The same raga in Carnatic music is known as Mohanam.
Raga Bhupali, Raga Yaman and Raga Bhairav tend to be the three basic ragas of Hindustani music, learnt first by its students. (ref: Wikipedia).
Surely many of us are waiting to enter this stage. But students are advised to keep patience and to go slow. There is no shortcut way like may other good things. Those who have good practice on the previous lessons, they will get the benefit now.

Sir notes were not clear at all.. I had to pause every 5 seconds and trying it myself.. neverthless your videos are really very helpful please tell us notes sir atleast in description or in comment section that'd be a great help sir

In the lesson where you had showed strokes, there were 2 types one is without the use of tongue and another one is with tongue (thaka thaka). Here where you Play, do you use tongue? Which type of stroke is this? I'm following the lessons you upload and they are very helpful 😇

Sir, You know well that God has not given anybody so strong memory to grasp immediately after you said. And to grasp and remember the notations is unlimited difficult. So write down notations on big board in big letters and give sufficient time to take down.
