That was one of the craziest things about carnivore to me. I was all of a sudden eating once maybe twice a day. So a plate of eggs and bacon around noon and big fatty steak for dinner. And some days it just be a big fatty steak and I would be fulfilled and satisfied until the next evening! It's unbelievable. Btw I lost 25 lbs in two weeks with ZERO exercise which never happened before in my life.

@@Adulthumanfemale84 hungry signal very different on a carnivore diet so you need to relearn them. A good way of telling is if meat taste good. So if it does then you keep eating fatty meat until it stops tasting good. Also when people lose a lot of weight quickly they can lose some hair but it then grows back thicker and stronger. Just make sure you're eating until meat stops tasting good, and get a LOT of animal fats

Keep up the message theme. I’m freaking here for it! Sadly most people I try to impart these already well proven ideas to toss me to the side. I’m 4.3 months in, which is just the start, and things are drastically changing. In my 60’s! But some are watching me heal like I was born to, and just beginning to scratch their heads. This way of life is hard af, but only when you get past all the plethora of addictions you are attached to. I’m in this for the long game. And I’m feeling like a Lioness with a side of extra Bad@$$. Thank you Doc Chaffee💪🏽

@@foxywhitetip7387 Yes it’s easy and convenient. But most people are and have been eating anything and everything for a long time. And they’re addicted. And the addictions that open the doors to “cheat days”, birthdays, celebrations, and all forms of peer pressure exist all the time. Few will stick with it 100% all the time because we’re surrounded by it. From my own personal experience, and the 10,000 plus carnivores I interact with on the daily, have the same struggle. We all do pretty well, but agree being 100% all day every day is a real challenge. If you have a great stressor free life, maybe you’re 100% compliant. I’ve only heard of one carnivore (a doctor) who claims he never has a slip up. And no one will ever know if he’s telling the truth. I’m going to ask him next chance I get if he ever experiences any difficulties. It’s a challenge.

Lol! Well put!! I love your style of writing and your humor! And yes, the "food addictions" can be challenging at first, altho' I found it rarely took more than 3 to 4 days to get over any of them! And then, because I believe the "addiction" is only a stage of food sensitivity - I call it "allergy-addiction," tho' not a true allergy - I would wait about a week (between 5 to 10 days is best for this) and reintroduce the food. And that would be just enough time for there to be enough antibodies still waiting around to pounce on it that I would get a very heightened response, which would then put me off it completely!! In fact, I think this is what underlies Dr. Chaffee's claim that "it's the [giving up of the] last 5% [of plant foods] that makes all the difference!" I think those last 5% we hold onto are the foods we think are our favorites - the ones we think we can't live without - but which are really only foods we are "addicted to" as a symptom of sensitivity, and therefore often the very things most responsible for our health issues! And therefore, giving them up WILL naturally"make all the difference"! 🤗

That’s been my experience. You can eat as many calories as you want until you feel satiated on a carnivore lifestyle. As your body reaches a homeostasis of nourishment, there’s less caloric intake required to keep the body in that state of health. People who don’t eat nutrient dense animal foods are having to eat more calories of junk food to which they never feel satiated. They may feel full, but never satisfied.

@anthonychaffeemd: I've been on board since January, with no regrets. My issue is that I've always been slender, slightly underweight, & without much appetite. So since becoming "keto-vore," I'm now even leaner (which is good), but I'd now like to bulk up by increasing muscle mass. Any suggestions on how to actually increase appetite and consequently muscle gain?

Not me... I'm eating 4 or 5 times a day (no snacking). I don't get hangry but I'm trying to grow bigger and I'm not (I was/am hyperthyroid), so I'm eating close to what I used to. My typical day is around 400 grams of protein and 500 grams of fat, sometimes more... and I'll have to calculate my carbs, as I've been eating plain yogurt with honey every night, which I'm sure bumps me past 20. Yogurt with honey is the only sweet thing I'm eating now.

Newbie here! I’ve done awesome so far (Day 20), sleeping better, huge spikes of energy, losing weight, but I’m having a hard time eating more than 1200 calories a day now. At first I was eating more, the first two weeks, but this week it fell off so hard. I don’t know if it’s a hormonal shift or if my body is stabilizing in some way, but I’m afraid I won’t get enough nutrients (though I am supplementing with iodine, a multivitamin, and electrolytes). I have a genetic disorder that needed so much caring for in the past, but now I feel good, but am worried I’m going to crash. Is that something I should worry about and force-eat more?

So, how do you manage the amount of protein when you are eating less and once per day? Are you supplementing, in addition to whole foods?
@realbishop5183
@realbishop5183 Жыл бұрын
When you eat 1 large meal a day which consists of lots of fat and protein, it takes your body a while to digest and absorb all of the nutrients. So one huge stake meal can be digested for like 6 to 12h. In that time you absorb the nutrients and your body metabolises it all the time. So that "you can absorb 30g of protein in 1h" doesnt metter cuz u digest your food for many hours and all protein will be absorbed eventually. You dont need to supplement protein on this diet cuz you are getting plenty of it!

I just had a question as you say, the plants have adapted so that they can protect themselves with toxins against others, eating them, and that certain animals adapt to certain plants to eat them I would ask if not that happens to humans. You can look at the obituaries in my area we come from a Ukrainian Polish background with lots of sauerkraut, onions and garlic, eating all garden vegetables and some meat and everybody’s in their late 80s and 90s even up to 100 like more than half the people and they eat bread and pastry and drink dairy and everything else so maybe our bodies get adapted to these things, because after generations of having to eat what there is like, flour beans, and rice so maybe there is a way that our body can adapt to these things obviously people have been eating this for many years. I’m wondering if it’s the onions or garlic or the fermented sauerkraut and food that they put so they also use heavy cream and an animal fat so maybe it’s a combination sometimes

I’ve hit a plateau only 1 week after being on carnivore . I lost 6 pounds that week and my second week my weight remained the same . I only heard how people loose 15-30 pounds in the first month and having hit plateau already is a bit off putting . I’ve experienced extreme hunger in the morning but i try to eat around 12pm and my second meal around 6pm . I usually have for the first meal 5 eggs and calf liver plus 2-3 pork sausages and my second meal i have a sirloin steak about 400g or 0.88 pounds . I also exercise in the gym 6 times a week following p p l routine . Would anyone advise me of what am i doing wrong ? My height is 6 feet and my weight is 234.7 pounds

Sugar and carb cravings usually go away after 2 weeks or so. But it can also be a sign of hunger, so make sure you're eating enough fatty meat. If you get those cravings, try eating meat or eggs, and if they taste good, then you are hungry and sound keep eating until they stop tasting good. That usually helps. So as Dr Baker says, eat enough meat so that you don't get cravings for other things.
