9 months ago I went really high protein (1.2 g/pound of desired body weight) I was so satiated that it looked like a carnivore diet. The weight started falling off and I started progressive, functional strength training, in 4 months I dropped 60 pounds and waist reduced by over 6”. Recently my waist has remained the same, I’ve put 10 pounds on but gained an inch on my arms, calves and thighs and shirts feel tighter across my back and shoulders. I’ve now stopped caring about my weight and judge by appearance, measurements and my strength. You guys nailed it with everything you said in this episode

Cool to hear! I am currently 456 lbs and would like to get to 250. I know the eating too low for a while then just couldn’t stand it and would binge back all the weight and then sole ever time. I know this time it’s going to take longer to lose but it’ll be worth it cause prayerfully this is the life long sustaining approach.

@@ManOvGod if you concentrate on getting a large amount of protein before eating anything else you won’t have to start counting calories for a long time. If you try the 1.2 grams of protein for a desired weight of 250 pounds you’re aiming for 300 grams of protein/day. In 3 meals that could be: Breakfast 1 dozen boiled eggs and 10 slices of bacon Lunch 1 pound of coho salmon Dinner 14 ox steak Doesn’t leave much room to eat anything else

@@ManOvGod breakfast is 1366 calories, lunch is 801, dinner is 425 for a total of 2592 calories which based on your current weight of 456 as you said, is about half the calories you have to be consuming now to maintain that weight. This is how you eat more and get leaner.

So true. 1/2 lb of beef is so satiating I have to eat a pound across 2 meals because no way can I eat that much in one meal. Adding a little blue cheese does help me eat a bit more if I add it

I used to do intense cardio, HIIT, orange theory and circuits with weights. No matter how much I increased my workouts, to multiple times a day and cut calories (under 1400, then 1200, etc) I couldn’t build muscle and had was skinny fat. After discovering you guys, and hearing your message, I took a leap of faith.. no more cardio. I swapped my circuits for traditional strength and barbell training (started with the big 5 lifts). Meat and protein based diet, eating to satiety and my protein goals. It took about 6 months to really see changes, but wow, my body and metabolism transformed. I look muscular and strong, not fluffy. The best part is that I work out a fraction of the time I used too, look better, and that I no longer count calories or diet. I feel free. Thank you 😊🙏🏻

Great convo. I'm a female lifter, recovering from the Olde Fitness Mindset of more cardio + starvation diets to lose fat. Gains in the gym have been literally 100% over starting, sometimes more,, especially the big lifts. I don't weigh less on thes scale, but gotten strong af, and that actually feels better in a body that's not "skinny" but strong - and EVEN still, sometimes the temptation to cut calories still rears its head. Hard paradigm to fully shake! Thanks guys!

Found you guys July 2023. Gained 8 pounds in one month, because I dove head first into reverse dieting -- because that is how I roll; all in or all out. LOL Started lifting following your advice: 3x/weekly, major lifts, 4 days of mobility, rotated programs every 3 weeks. Started at 5# dead lift, by December 90#; 30# Back squat, by December 75#; 15# overhead press, by December 45#. I went from eating 2,200 to 2,400 calories daily, dropped back to 1,800 and then really revved up to now I eat 3,000 daily! I am 54 years old, post menopause, 5'4" and needing to drop about 15 to 20# of fat, but in 6 months I have gotten stronger, sped up my metabolism, to the point where I just went through a 10-day cut where I cut 1,000 calories, down to 2,000, and did trigger sessions daily -- as I was a bit burned out and sore, so I knew I needed to reduce volume and let the body refresh. Now, after that rest, I am starting my next 3-week lifting rotation in the 6-12 rep range, 4 rounds, with 4 major moves, 3x weekly, and the other 4 days will be mobility and 2x trigger sessions with bands, and I intend to stay in the 2,500 calorie intake for the next 3 weeks, and then rotate my program and calories, going back up to 3,000 daily, and then rotate 3 weeks cutting, 3 weeks bulking (or actually maintaining, as I still have a bit of hunger pangs even at 3,000). I am very excited for where I am going to go with my body recomposition in 2024. My scale is under the counter, no batteries in it, and no interest in finding batteries to put in it. I took measurements at the start of my 1,000-calorie cut, and I will take them again when I finish this next 3 weeks, and then I'll take measurements every three weeks, but my focus is on can I do one more rep, can I add a couple pounds over the 3 weeks. I'm not even lifting super heavy weights, but my metabolism is revved high! Thank you, Sal, Adam, Justin, and Doug!

@@deborahbaca1345 I actually started cutting about 2 to 300 calories a day but then 2 weeks ago got really sick with a virus that I'm only just getting over so I'm basically stepping back and resetting myself as I was quite sick for 2 weeks and I've lost a little bit of strength so I just got anabolic and I'm starting it for the next week or two slowly to recondition and then I intend to fully start it hopefully by the end of April and my focus is very much on building tons of strength and only cutting 2 to 300 Cal which when you're eating 3,000 Cal daily cutting to 2800 or 2700 daily is not a big deal but I'm going to focus on getting very strong and adding a lot more steps in daily

I know I wont see results unless I actually lift weights more frequently, but I have a hard time getting to the gym more than twice a week. But listening to you guys is really motivating. Backstory, I did some beachbody workouts a few years ago, so I also fell for the trap that I need to eat little and do cardo to lose weight. So I'm unlearning that, and still learning about strength training, thanks to you guys. Hoping I can really implement better habits this year.

Can attest to this 100%. I lost almost 100 lbs a decade ago, running and calorie counting. Couldn't keep up with it, so slowly but surely the weight came back plus some. I'm in the process of trying to lose again, but taking a different approach this time. More protein and weights, less calorie obsession and killer cardio. My body composition now, compared to when I was the same weight 10 years ago is night and day. I'm comfortably fitting into a 2x with visible definition. I remember vividly being this weight years ago because it was around the time I was transitioning from walking to jogging, and I was still wearing a 3X with no traps or pecs to speak of. Love the practical and consistent messaging you guys have had over the years. Keep being you.

Started my fitness journey 3 months ago! Im already athletic due to playing basketball and running track all my life. After college I stopped working out consistently and gained almost 25 pounds at the highest weight I had been of 164 lbs. After that been creeping my way back to college weight of 140 lbs. Last year I cleansed with a 60 day fruits and veggies cleanse a year ago and got down to 135 pounds but I lost muscle. Now I’m up to 147 lbs 26% body fat and I’ve been in the gym 3-5 days a week eating clean eating between 90-115g of protein a day give or take for the past 3 months and my weight continues to fluctuate between 145-149! Haven’t rescanned for body fat% for a month but I wonder if I’m actually successfully going through body recomposition or just doing it all wrong !!! I love watching your videos to help me learn what I should be doing to reach my goals !! Thank you guys for giving us these priceless videos !!! 👏🏾

I have always eaten a lot generally and am lucky to be tall and I seem to not put on weight easily. Though that is changing as I am getting older , I have always been a cardio person, however over the last year my experience and knowledge around resistance training and its benefits have increased significantly and I have become a complete muscle building nerd. Your podcast and associated podcasts have helped build my knowledge loads. Thank you.

Thank you 3 for giving me information to rebuild my ability to hit my fitness goals. I've been eating your masterclass episodes while digging deep in other episodes to build a routine worthy of gains needed to crush not only my goals but a fitness competition hosted by a mentor of mine. Amusing, it was first all about the money and I failed horribly; now I've repaired my mentality and congruence issues that held me back and I have you 3 to thank for inspiring me and giving me information to help not only me but others in my network as a BetterHealth ambassador. Need to dust off the books and start studying nutrition and physiology again; a passion that's been reignited getting back into fixing my health. Appreciate you and your team for sharing. I'll see you all soon

I just started weighing my food and didn't change the amounts i was eating. I found out that I was eating close to 2200 calories when I thought I was eating 1400. I eat mostly protein, 140g + protein a day and lifting weights. I was still losing fat and gaining muscle. That's pretty awesome. I would love to try one of your programs to gain more muscle and burn off the remaining 50 pounds of fat.

I’ve been a viewer for 7 months now which is same time I started my fitness journey and thanks to Mind pump always highlighting to avoid Cardio and strength train instead I’ve seen massive results except I weigh myself every gym session and I can agree it does play with my head, thanks for the info now time to raise my protein intake because I find myself not sleeping well and fatigued lately. So much meat from this video

I stumbled upon this paradigm shift in August after coming down with Covid. For some reason I began eating more while sick and I started dropping pant sizes. Also maintaining the same weightlifting routine, I have dropped 7 pounds and put on a leaner look, but I have since plateaued and would love a MAPS program to get this fat burning engine back on track. Thanks for all the great advice!!!

Perfect timing; I needed to hear this. I just started lifting heavier, but I also need endurance for riding my mountain bike 3-4 times a week. Need to know which training bundle to get. I’m a 65 year old female, 123 lbs, but since I am getting my protein up, I gained 3 lbs. Really appreciate your content!!

I would like people to know this as well. Society does let people trust the process and trust the body. The minute the scale goes up either the person freaks out or someone close to them tells them oh you're eating to much that's why your gaining weight. 😔 Noooo
