That goulash was not goulash. :) It was definitely pörkölt. I don't know that you mixed up accidentally, or they sold it to you as goulash, but no one here in Hungary eats goulash with nokedli, mainly because it's a soup. :) (as you said in the video correctly) Also in goulash you can always find carrot, turnip and potato. Believe me, it was pörkölt. So no excuses, you guys need to come back for another round. ;)

I think what you are referring to is goulash soup, which indeed is what is generally abbreviated as 'goulash' in Hungary for convenience. Do not forget however that there is such a thing as goulash (not soup) which is quite similar to pörkölt or paprikás but with differences in preparation.
@syllene
@syllene 5 жыл бұрын
Itt mindegyikünk magyar szerintem, but yes, def. it was pörkölt. Goulash is pörkölt with vegetables, the soup is the same but with híg lére eresztve.....:D

Hi, I am from Hungary and I saw the túró rudi but actually It isn't a cheese coated with chocolate It is cottage "cheese" but It isn't a usual cheese in Hungary. The english version is bushier than the hungarian and I think the best hungarian food is the TÚRÓS CSÚSZA it is a pasta with sour cream, hungarian cottage cheese a bit of paprika and fried bacon.

So good that you enjoyed our cuisine! May i give you a little correction: that beef stew in the bun was "pörkölt" and not "goulash". It is a common mistake :) So the rule is: a rich paprika meet stew is pörkölt, goulash is always a soup with (of course) paprika, beef and lots of vegetables.

Next time you want to come to Hungary, take a chance to visit Győr. This city is in the West part of the country, and it is soo beautiful. I wonder why "gulyás' soup got so famous? that was poor man's meal. there are many tastier soups to taste for instance Jókai bean soup

About sour cream: it is coming from milk (tej) . When they left the milk to stand minimum a day or two in a fridge it start to change for two parts. Bottom will be a very liquid and white part which has a little bit sour taste. We call it "savó". Its about 80 % of the original milk and it's a little bit acidulous. The upper part of the milk will be a dense and creamy layer which is the fat of the milk. It's a little bit sweet. We call it "a tej föle" it means the upper part of the milk. If you get this fatty and dense part and mix with a little lower part you get a 10 or 20 % fat sour cream (tejföl) depends of the mixing of the two parts. Of course nowadays in the modern factories the procedure could be different. Bye

There is a difference between gulyás And Pörkölt. Gulyás is the soup And pörkölt is similar to stew, but most of the time We dont put into the bread but top of the Nokedli. 😊

Túrórudi is filled with curd/cottage cheese, it's hard to come up with the exact equivalent of Hungarian túró, in Hungary it comes in chunky bits, but in other countries it's more of a creamy texture.

Greets! Just a bit correction. That dish what you call as goulash was another dish, called pörkölt. Same cooking method, except less water when you cook it, that's why it less soupy.

@@EileenAldis Hi, what was yours and your boyfriend's each favorite food in Budapest? Ps, for the bath houses, what was the cost to use them? I am strongly considering doing a trip to Budapest this year, and I loved your video for there. It looked to be a totally cool place to check out. Ps, their usage of paprika in everything I find to be humorous. I will be sure to check out your other videos for you & Mark in other countries. Btw, Japan is super cool, if you guys can manage to get over to there sometime. I was able to visit there once, several years back. They are so very polite that it's quite refreshing. Thanks again for the response. I greatly appreciate it.
