American Express is INSANE with the merchant fees. When I used a credit card terminal we used to offer people discounts to NOT use their AMEX cards. That's how bad it is.

Ebay says Amex fees are crazy!? They need to look at their own fees!!

Depending on the negotiated processing rate, American Express has been known to take up to 13% which is more than eBay is charging us, so it’s possible (however unlikely) they were losing money on each Amex sale.

PayPal charges 2.75% on American Express with my card reader. Just saying. 👀

I use flat rate shipping and live in Illinois near the eBay shipping center. I often exclude those places because it is so expensive. This is great for me!

I'm in San Diego, CA and I have had sales to AK & HI. I hope this doesn't stop those sales. If the concern was about deliver time, what about APO & FPO addresses? I had one recently sent Ground Advantage that took nearly 1 month to deliver. Buyer filed an INR. eBay needs to allow sellers extra delivery time for APO & FPO addresses.

I haven't had an International sale in months, probably before Christmas 😮 but I have had Hawaii and PR and I'm in AZ. 🤷♀️ I hope I don't lose those sales too. Thanks for the update Lonnie and Candice.

I’m a seller that lives in Hawaii. Shipping is higher here than the mainland but not by so much that we should be considered international 🤦🏽♀️. Ground advantage has been a godsend! And packages have been reaching their destinations in good time, for me anyway. I really hope it’s a change for the better for all, both sellers and buyers.

I have a negative from a Saturday Night Live DVD set because the customer thought a certain actress was a guest host that season but they hosted a different season. I didn't mention this actress, the product details didn't, nowhere in the listing would they have gotten this idea. They just thought they remembered this actress hosting that season, didn't check on Google to make sure before buying a sealed copy of that season on DVD for more than the used copies available and then left negative feedback after watching it and realizing they hosted another season...

It always amazes me that I can send a tracked 1 pound packet to Hawaii from Nova Scotia for about $5.50 USD, but if I want to buy the same package from Maine (literally right across the Bay of Fundy from me) I would pay $25-30 USD if the seller uses the EIS. I understand why EIS exists (not here in Canada) to protect sellers, but it’s a ridiculous extra cost to buy from the US if it’s being used.

Feedback, as long as they’re splitting out product reviews from Seller Feedback, they should split out Feedback directed at USPS to, so we stop hearing about delays, lost packages and other issues by way of Negative Feedbacks from buyers.

Hawaii Alaska and Porto Rico and other us territory’s are domestic not international eBay is so stupid I have shipped to Alaska multiple times and it is like shipping to California there is no customs to fill out.

As far as Alaska and Hawaii - I opted not to ship to those please because it was expensive and took forever for the buyers to get their items (sometimes longer than international items!) and I had to refund almost anything I sent there for item not received. They would of course eventually get the item and I would be out the $ so opted out.

I found a ton of Spanish cds a few years ago and I get a few of them going to Porto Rico a month but they are small and usually going media mail so hopefully it won’t change much for me. Thanks for the heads up though.

I think a lot of people just exclude Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico because they think it's going to be very expensive and eBay wants to get more sales from those places. I live in Florida so Puerto Rico gets good rates from me and i have a decent amount of sales there, so i can't help but think it's going to hurt me, but i hardly ship to Hawaii and almost never Alaska so that is less concerning, but as you said it's a lot of people being impacted when you out them all together.

I just got an offer on one of my "expensive" items. The problem it's going to weigh 85 lbs and the box will be 20x20x12. It's the only reaon i have not responded. If this was after EIS in that state was implemented i would accept it.

Deleting eBay for business seems like another bad idea. eBay canceling a program that seems to be effective seems to be common. Lonnie's comment about them spending time on questionable programs, while they miss spending time and effort on the basics seems to be their norm.

I live in central oregon and rarely have shipments to alaska, ship more often to hawaii or puerto rico, still infrequent to those areas.

I wonder if they are making the change for Alaska, Hawaii and PR because of the delivery times with Ground Advantage. Customers are complaining about how long it is taking - especially to Hawaii. Delivery is taking way longer than the estimated time the buyer sees when they buy and they are not happy. Ground Advantage goes by ship to Hawaii and PR, so I imagine that by adding those areas to the EIS they will consolidate and fly the packages for faster service.

Lots of places don’t take Amex because of fees. I doubt that will lose them any business.

Yeah, that's an interesting question. I'm not sure how many sellers are in those places because shipping is so much more expensive compared to the mainland that it would be difficult to be competitive and still profitable, but this would probably price out any that do exist

One would think ebay would include Guam as EIS, I've shipped there few times but it's always a Blu-ray movie and ships domestic media mail 🤔

I'm from Guam, usually when I order it's a hit or miss with ground advantage, sometimes it's by boat which takes about a month to get here. Sometimes by air, depending on seller @trdoffroad2020
