7:45 The nut on the compressor wheel is reverse threaded to prevent it from coming off while spinning at high rpm. THE MORE YOU KNOW🙌

Me too, lol I love my Subaru and to have some sort of Subaru content on here again would be cool. I think its be dope to see how he would build an 08 sti now considering "budget" is no longer an issue. IAG block and a bigger turbo (fp red or black) would be a super fun build IMO.

Conekillah I dont know man a b series seems like a waste for the work and price that a swap would take. D series motors are terribly underrated. They are capable of making really good power for pretty damn cheap in my opinion.

Funny, the boostedbois use those same turbos and get thousands of passes at the drags/streets over years of use. They don’t blow theirs like that.

Keep it up... Although yea was surprised that turbo even lasted could of been one of your issues? Back in the day I had the first turbo 1.6 SOHC Vtec in texas :) And I believe it was the 2nd turbo civic ever in texas at the time.. Think this was well before you were even born possibly.. It is really awesome to see people are still doing this today and pushing it further!

Actually maybe bi-turbo sequential system would be better for gas engine? Like Audi style system? tiny k03 turbo for instaspool and normal turbo for power. And instead of compounding only, a bypass check valve ball in between the two, when big boy starts making more, than the little one.

That's what I said lol they sell ebay turbo kits online at pfi speed with the brand they use. And considering Even blew up 2 motors and let it sit on a shelf uncovers in his garage while he worked on other cars. I dont think this was a good representation of a ebay turbo. Not saying I would buy one I bought a garret gt3076r for my build but I'm just saying... lol

@@andrewow32 i think even bought the cheapest of the cheapest ebay turbos they have internal wastegates. Maybe if he went with a similar turbo that the boostedboiz use he would have much better results. I have heard the boostedboiz say they have ran ebay turbos on the limit for over a year without problems.

@@cozifpv2069 yea that's what I think too I've been watching boosted boiz for a couple years now and there red hatch is making 750 or so for the last 2 or 3 years now with only one replacement and it was because he took it off the hatch and put it on his twin turbo mk2 and made 1150 off it and it started to seize up. After idk how many pulls and races in the hatch it just couldn't hold the power I think

If I was in America I'd use your tuner. Mad respect for a guy who street tunes even tho he has a dino. Understanding that dino and real world performance is the first step towards being a GOOD tuner and not just a gud tuner

Shoulda used the boostedboiz eBay special.. lasted almost 3 yrs at 6-700whp and thousands of miles of street driving including 2000 to Florida and 2000 back ... There are some turbos that actually last on eBay now and others that probably shouldn't even be for sale lol

Idk if you know or not, but the nuts that hold on the compressor wheel are reverse threads, you have to 'tighten' them to get them off. It's done so the centrifugal forces don't back the nut off.

maybe a left hand nut. scribe a line with an engraver from the shaft down the nut to the aluminum compressor wheel. then you can put it back together with a new rebuild kit. 180° thrust bearing. what kind of oil you running? 15w50 synthetic? is best for turbo applications.

My mate been using an ebay turbo for around 18 months! Jdm spec integra running 400bhp at the wheels. 12psi to keep it all safe-ish. It rips to be fair.

You couldn’t get the bad turbo’s turbines to come off because that bolt you were trying to loosen is reverse threaded (you spin it clockwise to loosen). Hope this helps, would love to see the inside of that blown boy!

Evan those t3-t4 ebay turbos aren't supposed to see more than 20 psi. 20 psi is pushing the limit already, if you want to turn the boost higher than that, I recommend a gt35, makes more power at less boost, yes you'll have more lag, but it'll be worth it and last much longer in the long run cause the turbo won't be stressing as much. Just some advice

I think Evan shanks should buy a 2011 blown 08-14 and swap in a brand new built motor and wiring and then get a base tune and get her dyno tuned. That way he has a lot of content for quarantine season and also he has a throwback nastalgia build thats reliable for at least like ~100k
