I put mine on the backside of my seat post. 4 black zip ties later. I have a Mini Step Thru 2. Moved my Rad Saddle Bag under my rear rack between the fender and rack. 😀

Good information Russ, 2 locks, plus an alarm. You might also want to use a bike cover, so the thief can't get a good look at your bike, the lock(s) or the accessories.

I just bought the 110 cm version and had no problem installing it through the rear wheel and the frame of my new STROMER ST1 bike. I do agree that it is a sharp learning curve when you first got it it can be daunting just trying to unlock the thing but with practice I'm sure that I'll be able to avoid being out in public and have people laugh at me while it takes 15 minutes for me to try to lock up my bike lol. Still it was a wise investment and I'm sure it will help keep my bike safe even though I'm not going to be more than 30 ft away from it at all times lol. Thank you for your video it was informative and positive. -a newly-minted, high-end e-bike lover in rainy Vancouver British Columbia

Sounds weird but I find the ebst thng to do is the locks like you have and then just a cover over you bike works wonders. Out of site out of mind. People have no clue whats under there and would have to inspect it closer. They don't know if its a 20 dollar bnike r a $5000 moped. They're more likely to just skip it and go for an easier target.

Russ, This whole lock thing is insane, I wish there were no thieves, but I like the alarm to draw attention. Have you ever asked people to watch your bike but still locked it up just as a friendly community?

I'm a double locker. Abus Granite 6500 110 and a Kryptonight u lock with x long cable. The Abus is for the frame to an object and the u lock is for the rear wheel to the frame with the long cable to the front wheel and u lock. 😀

Good way to do it!

I use a hiplock dx for the frame to object. A d lock for the back wheel and frame,and a heavy chain for the front wheel and frame.also a cable for the seat and helmet again through frame.need to get up for work an hour earlier for the time it takes to lock it up😂

Good video Russ, and I enjoy watching your videos. Abus folding lock, well, I think you may end up being disappointed in that it is not real secure (no lock is really, given that a this has enough time). If you use this in conjunction with your chain lock - no worries.. I just got a Trek E-Bike and was going through the dilemma of what to get. LBS wanted over $200 for an Abus folder, and I just was not overly impressed with it. I ended up upgrading from a silver Kryptonite U lock to a Abus Granit 540 X-Plus. I think the length gives better options for securing to objects (same as your chain). I also have an Abus frame lock, so basically using two locks, somewhat better security, but not guaranteed. Its really sad that we have arrived at this point in time in society. Also, got a Krptonite Evolution chain lock to use when transporting bikes in my Thule rack while traveling. Keep the videos coming for us "older" folks...

I don’t use the locks for anything other than fast lock ups when picking up food at the local Chinese carry out!

Thanks for Helping the economy out, we need good consumers. I think the abus lock along with others for line of site so it slows thief down enough so you can get to it before he rides off. I'm sure in some areas lock would be good, major metropolitan your just slowing down the enviable. I think most riding is were your with your bike 100 percent of the time.

Yeah, I would only lock it up for those times that I am in and out of a store quickly or within eye sight view of the bike. I would not leave it for long periods of time.

Kohlburg U-Lock has an inside diameter of 4.13" × 11" and 14mm Hardend Special Steel and lock is drill and pick resistant that you maybe able to secure your wheels with or lock up to certain types of bike racks

With my standard rad battery I'm worried about someone stealing the battery. Etsy has a rad power master key that works on all bikes. I would never leave the $battery on the bike for very long in public places.

Great video-may I ask where you got the basket withthe bottle holder?
@RussIsRight2 жыл бұрын
The front basket is from Rad Power Bikes. It is made specifically to fit their bikes. As for the bottle holder, it is a standard bottle holder that everyone sells. I just zip tied it to the basket.

Appreicate the chat Russ. Yes, my head has been spinning in circles thinking about bike security. Any particular alarm you recommend? Also have you considered Velosurance? They look pretty dialed in to the e-bike scene. Around $10/month for a $2000 bike. Of course depends upon your location. Downtown Chicago it would probably cost you $100/month for insurance! LOL!

you should buy the Abus Bordo 6000 which has an alarm. Why did you buy a separate alarm?

Even with a tire lock thry can always carry the bike out and put it in back of a truck within seconds

With two people, yes. My bike weighs over 100 lbs with the two batteries and everything else on it. This is why you must lock the bike to a stationary object (like a flag pole or something) besides just locking the wheels. I only did it this way for showing how I lock it along with the wheels.

Tracking devices are a waste. In Tacoma WA the TPD will do nothing
@RussIsRight2 жыл бұрын
Many police departments cannot act on reports of the tracking devices. So, yes, I agree that the devices are not useful for recovery of your bikes. I also do not suggest trying to recover the bike yourself and confronting a thief. Too dangerous.

Thinking about Bike Theft is preventing My decision to purchase Electric Bike
@RussIsRight2 жыл бұрын
Sadly, ebike theft is huge it seems. I wouldn't consider leaving an ebike unattended too long, even if it is locked. Many riders try keeping the bike locked in areas where there is a lot of people watching instead of in dark, lonely places by itself.
