The gears would make a diff in a hilly area, plus it needs a bigger chain ring.

I have ordered mine. I am looking forward to using it for commuting to the local supermarket which is on back roads a few blocks away. I would recommend that you mention that this particular model is being used for shopping inside department stores and supermarkets by the elderly in future reviews.

I'll keep watching for future trikes but from everything I'm seeing I like the Rad for what I'll be doing. Micah at Electrek compared 4 trikes on his ebike school channel including the Rad, and the Lectric. He called the Lectric the best value but the Rad he considered the best build quality. I'm not interested in multiple gears. Stability and reliability are my biggest concerns. Since Rad dropped their price, and only raised it a little, looks like it's the best deal. Where I'll be at I need to go roundtrip about 3 miles on flat pavement to get groceries. But I won't need it for a couple of years so will keep watching. P.S. Don't live in Seattle if you like sun. Did that for a year. Live just outside The Villages up the road from you now.

Another nice review. I think you're exactly right about the tires on the Mooncool making it more stable. I read a story from a guy who put a suspension fork and 20x3 tires on his Lectric XP Trike. He said he wanted to improve the ride which it did but it was also surprisingly more stable. As far as this one goes having reverse on a trike is one of those things like parking brakes they should all have. It can't possibly add much to the build cost to have a switch that reverses polarity to the motor and limits speed. Probably just programming the controller and adding a switch. They might even be able to set it up so that holding the minus button after reaching PAS zero puts it in reverse so they don't even need to add a switch.

I have found your reviews very informative while searching for an etrike. When you do review this trike can you ride it gears only? I would like your opinion on how easy it is to ride without motor assistance (just in case). Thank you for your reviews.

This one is actually very easy to ride with no assist as compared to other trikes. The gears are small making it easier. However, because of the small gears its uncomfortably fast pedaling to get to about 12 mph.

Yeah, the wind noise is really bad on this one considering you were going relatively slow

The wind was blowing, but... I am returning the Action 4 camera. Its been terrible. The Action 3 has very little wind noise. I am going to get another one and try it but if its the same, I will probably return it also and get anther Action 3.

The track is too narrow for cornering at speed. The small wheel size makes it hypersensitive to bumps and potholes. All the braking and power on one small, front wheel. It all adds up to a disaster waiting to happen. Ideal for tootling along on dead level, smooth surfaces on a dry day well away from traffic? Over one hundred years of bicycle development leads us to this? It's garbage!
