I have the Echo and when I use the edge guard I just turn the dial down to half the rate I'm putting on the rest of the yard. Then take edge guard off and put it back normal rate. It's not rocket science but it works.

I’d probably go with Earthway JB. Simply because I like to see the spread pattern. My neighbor actually has my Scott spreader for several years now. Hmmmm I also use it to put down CA CL in the winter. Great video and informative JB! Probably not using the pool yet…stinks! Hope you had a great weekend! Cheers neighbor!

I was trying to choose between these two as an upgrade to my current Scott’s spreader. My main complaint about the scott’s is that it is inconsistent. I always write down settings, try to keep walk rate constant, and weigh the fertilizer, so i know the application rate varies. This was a very, very useful comparison. Your video helped me make an informed decision.

I have the echo rb85. It address nearly all the issues with the rb60. The auger is far and away better, and the activation method is the same as the earthway. My yard is about 23k sqft so being able to carry two bags of product is a big win.

I’ve owned an earlier Earthway spreader for at least 30 years since new. All I do is wash it after use and hang it up until next time. Never touched a screw on it. The tubeless tires do tend to leak down and can separate from the bead seal when it sets unused a long time. Not a game changer but still an annoying situation. I just remember to check them occasionally to eliminate the problem. Still the best walk behind broadcast spreader for the money, in my experience.

Another great video JB! I just picked up the Yard Mastery spreader (rebranded Earthway) YM did most of the build before it shipped. I just had to put the handle and wheels on. I'm impressed so far. I had a Spyker which disappointed. Too bulky and inconsistent spread patern. The Earth Way is inovative yet simple.

Hey JB, I left you a comment on your last video about the RB60 about how much I loved it and being a massive upgrade over a Scott's. Well, it let me down big time a couple of weeks ago. Three separate times while I was putting down pelletized lime, the gate didn't closed when I released the lever dumping product. I was so disappointed I sold it and bit the bullet on a 50lb Lesco unit.

The #1 problem (for me) is that no one has created a design to completely empty the hopper without bouncing or tilting the spreader. *Sighs, the search continues. Great video JB,

Good fair review. My experience with the Echo setting lever jumping is (I'm pretty sure) from larger granules/prills being stuck between the setting flap and the trap door flap. So when you pull or release the hand lever, it takes the setting lever for a ride with it. If that makes sense... If I'm using a product with tiny granule size, like I did last night with DiseaseX, I don't jump settings ever.

As a RB60 owner I would say you hit all my complaints except for two. How can you call a tire pneumatic when there's no valve stem to fill it with air. The second complaint is that the edge guard falls down on it's own (maybe helped by the fact that you have to bounce it to get the product out). Nothing like making a pass or two and then noticing the edge guard is blocking the spread.

Thanks, I think for me, I'll see a lawncare guru use a product and since I'm a fan, I'm likely to go out and buy That product. These comparison videos are awesome for the DIY homeowner. Thank you 🙏🏽 I would have thought Echo all the way, after watching this, Earthway would be a better fit for me!... Side note, as a man in my early 40s and has lost about 50lbs in the last 6 months...what do you do to keep your oblique's trim and lower abs in check?...health is important! Especially with summer here in TX.

Awesome Josh! I’m glad this video helped you out! Congrats on losing 50 lbs! I target abs 2-3 times per week usually about 5-10 minutes worth of exercises at the beginning of my workouts. Usually 3 exercises one that targets lower abdominals, one exercise that targets obliques and another that challenges the 6 pack. 15-20 reps per exercise. 2-3 sets per exercise. Stay consistent and you’ll reap the benefits! 👍keep up the good work my friend

I have the echo and have no problem at all .. a few seconds of dancing with the spreader at the last pound but no big deal. It just works. If it ever breaks I may try a esrthway.

I like my Earthway. I did have to mod it because the open/close rod kept falling out of its little hole underneath the bucket. Drilled a little hole and added a cotter pin and she was good to go!

Earthway has a critical plastic component holding the frame together on each side. When that part breaks, the spreader is useless.

I have an earthway, the only thing I do not like is fertilizer bounces off the metal pips and goes in my shoes as I apply. Other than that I am very satisfied.
