If you take care of them, they last forever. I retired my cheapo Walmart straight shaft weedeater after 13 years because it was finally starting to come apart at the seams, it still ran great. I have used a Stihl since then, but I am getting rid of it in favor of a new one.

You can also drill out the plug on the top of the throttle to get to the adjusting screw underneath. I've got one to do eventually on my blower but it's not bad enoughto mess with yet. Makers like to hide adjustment so they can sell parts or pay mechanics. I'd rather just save the money and do it at home. Happy weekend Wild Bill! Make your Sweetie happy! It was aftermarket, the screw was there to adjust. This is a good comment for anyone out there that may need a tweak and not realize that it's an option on the slide carbs

@@GuysPlayingWithTools This is the only slide carb I have had besides motorcycle carbs. Faked me out till I saw some videos of drilling out the plug and lo and behold, there was the screw. EPA mandates are sneaky little suckers. Remain calm over the weekend. It's cold here now but going to warm back up as Global Warming is getting jealous again.

Me too! The Echos are always a favorite here. In a few days we are going to find out what I consider the best weed eater on the market for a homeowner. Someone talked me out of my current weedeater (a really nice Stihl FS76) and it was replaced with a brand new (drum roll...)

@@bigsonslawncare The big reveal is coming in the next week or so. If I could get a brand new version of anything ever made it would be an SRM-210 but that's not happening.

Amateur tip. Check to make sure spark arrester is not plugged. I learned the hard way on my stihl chainsaws and weedwacker. As soon as I unplugged them, the engines started easy and tuned up even better.

Good tip! When It's one of the things I check when buying them, I need to include it in the videos more often
