@Jerry3669-l6j Hi Jerry, from your description, it sounds like it might want more fuel. Go to the 12:55 mark on this video for tuning. Also, if you used the plug in the kit, replace it with a Champion RJY6C (99% sure that's the one). The kit plugs are not reliable at all. I usually add a new plug to everything when I am working on it. Let me know how it goes, I have other suggestions, but I am pretty sure you can fine tune it into shape.

@Jerry3669-l6j Gotcha, that one has the rotary carb. Those are usually good to go right out of the box. Was the fuel filter in the kit the same as the one that it had when you started? Your description keeps making me think it's leaning out until it stalls, and that's a fuel problem, and it could be a filter not letting enough fuel in. We can't rule out a bad carb, not pumping enough gas.

@GuysPlayingWithTools7 күн бұрын
You are right. It's not obvious at all. Part of the problem there is the nature of fuel lines on a 2 stroke. The fuel filter goes on the longer line and should sit in the middle of the tank on the bottom. The other is a return and only has to make it into the tank and inch or so. If the carb has one barbed fitting. Put the fuel line on that one and the return on the other. If it doesn't, give it a guess, and if the fuel is coming in through the line you put the filter on, you are done. If not, you can switch them at the carb. Let me know if that helps. 👍

I have question but no spark tester . I took the spark plug out of a GT echo trimmer connected the plug to the coil and test the plug against the metal frame and there was no spark . So I got brave and held plug in my hand I could feel very little spark . Does these mean I need a coil ?
@GuysPlayingWithTools9 күн бұрын
That's a tough one. You are right in assuming you would get a pretty good shock, but with plastic handles on the machine, you might have only been slightly grounded and without ground you wouldn't get nearly as much of a shock as you would holding the metal shaft. If you have a local auto parts store, take it there. It's a quick test, and most will let you borrow a spark tester. If it doesn't have a new plug, get one while you are there, old plugs can make 2 strokes hard to start.

@GuysPlayingWithTools11 күн бұрын
@KenWoodProduction You didn't say if you disconnected at the coil or switch, but if it's at the switch, replace it, and you're good. If you disconnected it at the coil, the wire is grounding along the way, so replace the wire. I would suggest also making sure the switch is ok. Once it's apart, it's an easy replacement. 👍

@GuysPlayingWithTools16 күн бұрын
This one is a 2 stroke. With 2 stroke motors, you add the oil to the fuel, between 40:1 (3.2 oz per gallon of gas) and 50:1(2.6 oz per gallon of gas). I usually run them all at 3 oz per gallon. It will give a tiny bit of smoke on some motors, but they last forever that way.
