I always get a kick out of videos like this: Nice clean piece of equipment to work on, nice workbench and new tools, no oil or gas, the tech has clean hands and manicured nails and everything comes apart just peachy. Reminds me of naval training films put out by the makers of new aircraft equipment: tech-reps in clean lab coats working on a wing mock up section of the subject aircraft to demonstrate the ease of using whatever they are profiling in the video. Real World: Try doing the same job, at night, on a pitching carrier deck with wind blowing over the bow and, oh yes, that aircraft you are working on has to launch in 20 minutes with full ordnance. Similar chuckles when reading an old J.C. Whitney auto parts catalog where every other item listed "installs in minutes with common hand tools." Um, no. This video was well done but it brought back memories from 50 years ago.

Can someone please help me? I have the EXACT weedeater, model GT-225 Echo - and I was working for 7 straight hours cutting up a whole bunch of weeds that are 4 to 5 feet off the ground, sometimes hitting saplings and bunching up the head. Had to clean it multiple times until all of the sudden when I was just cutting some more waist high weeds, the trimmer head stopped spinning but the engine was running just fine. I try to diagnose the problem, the spinner head spins fine, the drive shaft still spins, but I have no idea what a broken or bad clutch looks like - does this even sound like a bad clutch? Thank you to anyone who can help!

So I opened it up and the clutch looks normal to me, it spins, but around it the plastic looks to be all melted - is that normal? Did I destroy this things engine with melted plastic?

@@zxvc1 the drum bearing probably seized causing it to overheat
