One of the best Echo and Bunnymen songs.. which is nuts because Ian wasn't there. Speaks loudly for the group....even when a substitute was in place they were killing it.

they were released.. the prove me wrong ep is 1000x better than the reverbation album. shame the noel collaboration ended soon after as they were really starting to get onto something. hard to complain about ian coming back tho or the electrafixion record..all good stuff. noel did a bang up job, they were tough shoes to fill and the media was harsh.

Take out McCulloch’s Doors and Velvets influences and you realize that the Bunnymen were just as much the 13th Floor Elevators too

One of the best Bunnymen songs in my opinion - I love this era - Will Sergeant really rocks/psychs out on this one! Great vocals from Noel Burke and as for the drums...yay!!!

I've always loved the reverberation-era bunnymen.

I saw them play four or five times in very small LA clubs during the Noel period. We even hung out at their hotel bar after a show, drank a lot of beer, and monopolized the jukebox. One of the best nights of my life. This lineup was fantastic! Sucks that they couldn’t get a label to give them a chance.

I bought Reverberation the week it came out and I became a fan perhaps a year before as I was introduced to the Self Titled album. I loved it then as now. Reverberation is just a masterpiece from beginning to end. This is the first time hearing this song. Noel kills it (in all due respects to Ian).

Found this today just for two bucks in a thrift store still sealed. I liked the cover and that it was sealed for such a price. Though I might checked out the music here before I dare to remove the sealing. This music is fucking awesome. Sometimes finding sealed vinyls truly is a curse in a weird way.

Thank you so much for preserving this "lost" phase of the Bunnymen. These songs range from good to great, and the guitar work is inspiring. They should have done another album with Noel Burke. In fact, I wonder what they'd be like now if he had stayed on. But perhaps they also should have changed their name. Anyway, these are great. A solid touchstone for our current project.

If they had used a different name they would have had a fair chance, even Will has acknowledged this in interviews. It was very hard to separate The Bunnymen image from Mac. Regardless, I have always felt the Burke-era Bunnymen output was far better than what Mac produced, although he did have some good songs as well.

@@AllenManor I agree, for the most part--though for my taste Ocean Rain is still their peak. But this...this would and could and should have been a great band in its own right. Imagine if they'd given this project its own name and kept it rolling! Nothing they've made since reuniting with McCulloch comes remotely close.

I must concede, it took me a very long time to give the Noel Burke era stuff a fair listen. I was definitely a huge Mac fan, and really one of those dyed in the wool ‘first four albums’ fans (I’m still not too keen on the self-titled ‘87 album). However in much more recent years I’ve been approaching this era with a fresh set of ears, and though most of it honestly doesn’t do much for me, I have to admit there are a few real shining gems in there, including this one. It’s certainly nowhere near as awful as the critics would have had us believe it was back in the early nineties. A bit dated perhaps, but that’s not always necessarily a bad thing. I’ll gladly take this over most of the current Echo’s post-Y2K offerings. It is true that Mac was basically irreplaceable at the time of his departure at the end of the eighties, and within that context I can understand why the Burke era was a critical and commercial failure… but had they just changed their name I think it would have fared *MUCH* better. Reverberation could have been a wonderful debut album had it been released under a different moniker. Oh well. What’s done is done.

Brilliant. If this came out today, just like this, it would create a frenzy and start a thousand bands. Noel's vocals are killer. I think we'll cover it.

Reverberation is my most played EATB album - hidden genius in Will's savage guitar playing, which sadly is missed on all his other albums... this said, "Prove Me Wrong" isn't a great song aside from the atmospheric, psychedelic guitar ride.
